Really excellent post on the economics of robots by Anthropic. Cost is the critical input for adoption. (We also wrote about this in depth here: robo.inc/blog/robotics-model…)

robots are going to be part of everyday life
we think they should have a friendly face!

Today we're announcing Robo.
We build affordable, useful robots that anyone can deploy (get yours below)
Robots will be everywhere. But first, they have to be affordable and useful.

v excited for @roborobots to come out of stealth
a new robotics company based in los angeles
have known @gpudad and @kylenoble a long time
they are high integrity, big hearted, brilliant dudes who just seem to be wired up to solve difficult engineering problems
historically across stuff like blockchains, software, hardware, AI
robo is built on v simple idea
beautiful, low cost robots, owned end to end, deployed fast in the real world, for a wide range of outcomes
low cost robots mean accessible deployments, more deployments means more data, more data means model improvements, better models improve robot costs/performance, better robots unlock more novel deployments
robo's robots are rolling out across apparel warehouses, hospital pharmacies, supply chain logistics, food manufacturing
i hope to see them all over LA soon

We believe robots are going to reshape the world, making work and businesses that were previously impossible a reality.
Over the last three months, we’ve been working on a robot useful enough to do real work and affordable enough to deploy at scale.

In talking to many physical AI companies, a pattern has emerged: there are two types of robotics founders: Hardware-first and software-first.
And software-first founders are growing.
They don't just build differently, they think differently. The gap between them is where a new field of opportunities can come from.

Co-sign. I’d add, though, that the best version of this isn’t built for humans. It should just be an MCP plus good cli tooling.
2026 is a terrible time to build a robotics company.
Imagine building a software company without AWS, Stripe, or GitHub. Everything from scratch. That's robotics today.
Most robotics teams waste their first 6–12 months rebuilding the same data infrastructure, telemetry, internal tools, pipelines. None of it is core IP.
I started @AlloyRobotics to SPEEDRUN all of it. A modern stack so robotics teams can iterate 10x faster than their competition.
If you're building in this space, lets talk.

i was visiting a hackathon where 80+ participants were training pi0/0.5, gr00t, smolvla, ACT, DP, etc. on lerobot arms
the best and most sample efficient policies were trained *from scratch*
we still do not have an open source x-embodied GPT-2, but i'm hopeful for this year

Introducing Etto – a new vision for the way you interact with your wardrobe.
Buying things you actually align with is impossible. There are endless options, and not enough context on how to parse them according to your evolving tastes.
We're solving this with AI and hardware.

There will be vintage hardware for inspo. Comment/DM for invite if you're in LA this week.
