Welcome, Indotriconodon magnus, India's 10th mammal species from the Late Cretaceous!
Here is the youngest eutriconodontan mammal, Indotriconodon magnus, discovered from the Late Cretaceous of Kutch, India! Co-authored with Prof. Bajpai, Ravi Yadav and @gpwilson11 Hoping to see more mammals with our ongoing work.

This single tooth has important implications--it represents a new major lineage (Eutriconodonta) for the Cretaceous of India, extends the lineage >16 million yrs to the end-Cretaceous, and, relative to contemporaries from India, is the only carnivore and is considerably larger.

New paper finds #marsupials had diverse #diets, and achieved this diversity earlier in the #Cretaceous than other #mammal groups. The authors apply #DentalTopography to 71 extinct members of #Metatheria, finding they had more diverse #ecology than other #LateCretaceous #mammals.

Update on the intertrappean titanosaur that @croc_nerd found back in February (🧵below). The complete femur is now here at the UMMP, ready for preparation and study. We are developing plans to collect the rest of the bones at the site, which are preserved in a hard claystone.
Replying to @gpwilson11
While we game-planned how to collect the large limestone slab (2 x 1 x 0.5 m), which rests low on the banks of the river, U-M grad student @Croc_nerd scouted the other side of the river and made what would become an even bigger discovery in a claystone.
