It’s actually hilarious watching Mercedes suddenly roll out the “George is struggling and it’s on us” narrative. They’ve been saying they need to figure it out since the very beginning of 2026, yet here we are, months later and somehow the problems only remain unsolved on George’s side. Convenient timing considering Kimi basically just one step away from that vase.
And now we get all these beautiful words about George being a champion and that he IS a champion for merc and all his problems are on them but at the end of the day who does get the trophy? Exactly
Toto Wolff: On the other side with George, we have a champion. We have someone that has it all but he's not clicking with the car and we need to find out what it is. Because it's not fast satisfying to see once someone that walks over water on the other side of the garage and the guy who, with all his ability, not being able to extract the performance out of the car. And this is on us
Just one question… why are you saying this only in the end of the fckn season????

George Russell being absolutely INSANE on track and nobody talking about it enough
an ongoing thread
they really brought the champion’s trophy to Austin? They’re not even pretending to give a shit anymore
George Russell after the US Grand Prix
On his race:
“The pace wasn’t good on the first stint. But when I came out of the pits on the hard [tyres], I probably did six laps where I was lapping the same pace as Kimi. But then I caught up with Oscar and I just couldn't overtake.”
“I need to try and understand why it is. It’s strange when you’re so far off, so hopefully there’s some answers somewhere. But, anyway, I don’t have one.”
“Six good laps, 50 bad laps. I want to understand why the pace was so bad on the first stint. The penalty was a bit ridiculous as well, but that was at least some of my worries after such a bad weekend.”
On the W17’s narrow operating window:
“He obviously was exceptionally competitive and there are signs that the window (of performance) is very small. I hope that’s an explanation for my lack of pace today, but I need to believe in my team because it’s difficult to understand when you’re so far off.”
On the fight for P2 in the championship:
“As long as we win the constructors’ championship, that’s the main thing. Obviously I’d like to finish best of the rest but P2, P3, P5 is not champion, so it doesn’t mean anything.”
On if it’s difficult to see the other Mercedes winning:
“Yeah, without a doubt. Right now, I don’t have the answers and, if I did, I wouldn’t be in this position.”
“Russell is no longer the number one driver. Antonelli has quite clearly taken that spot from him. But Russell is one of the top drivers.”
“I doubt whether he’ll ever have another chance at the world title or be given number one status anywhere.”
It’s safe to say F1 is obsessed with growing its audience. I mean a lot of celebrity guests, k-pop idols, endless marketing campaigns, collaborations, more sprints because apparently practice sessions don’t bring in a huge audience. They’re doing anything to get more people watching and paying for subscriptions and you clearly see they've gone much harder this year.
Yet I keep seeing fans from all over the fd saying how miserable this season has been. Nah this isn’t just about 63s and gr63 himself. Atp I’m not even blaming teletubbies from merc but F1 and the FIA. Because the way they’ve been building this narrative around #him goes way beyond just one team. It stopped being about the sport but the narrative
Idk maybe it’s time to collectively cancel our F1TV and let it go until 2027 if 2027 is even worth coming back for lol 😂
I’ve seen sooo many sides of George this season through all his ups and downs but I’ve never seen him like this. Not even ONCE in his F1 career I’d say
Have you noticed every time George says he finally feels comfortable with the car, Mercedes ruins everything right in the next race?

THE GUY WHO GAVE GEORGE THIS PENALTY ALSO ALWAYS IGNORES ANTONELLI'S TRACK LIMITS!! can we cancel him pleaseeeeee. his name is steward i think? thats his surname if i remember correctly
The last time George finished outside the top 6 in Austin was back in 2021 when he was still driving for Williams
Next week George could lose both his last mathematical chance at the title and his P2 in the drivers’ standings
After Austin GP:
George — 242
Lewis — 241
Max — 236
Charles — 233
Just 9 points between them
To keep the very last straw of title hope, George needs to win in Mexico with Kimi finishing P10 or lower. Meanwhile by finishing even P5 he risks to lose 3 positions if Charles wins, Max finishes P2 and Lewis P3. Then George drops straight to P5.
imagine going into a race still mathematically fighting for the title and coming out of it fifth in the championship. I have no words
What a fckng joke. George gets punished on the opening lap for supposedly gaining an advantage he never gained and the stewards manage to frame a 5-second penalty as an act of mercy because they could’ve given him 10. Meanwhile Bortoleto gets absolutely nothing for the same incident on the same lap 1
Moreover they literally brought the championship trophy to Austin and Domenicali and Ben Sulayem look like they were ready to crown kimi right there and then. Yet George still managed to finish above P9. Oh that must’ve been disappointing lmao
But yeah keep telling me there’s no agenda and the entire Kimi narrative is completely organic
