After 2+ years at @MidasRWA, I’ve decided to join thr Sky Frontier Foundation as the Global Head of Capital Markets.
I'm genuinely grateful to have been part of the Midas journey from the early, early days, helping build the platform from the ground up, scaling to $2B + in asset issuance, and closing a $50m Series A.
On May 18th, I joined @RuneKek at the SFF. The @SkyEcosystem sits at the intersection of tokenization, traditional capital markets, and onchain finance, three worlds that are now undeniably colliding. My focus will be leveraging Sky's growing balance sheet to deepen capital flows, by leveraging the most established institutions and capital channels to bring traditional finance meaningfully into the Sky Ecosystem.
Sky has been executing quietly and consistently for years with ~$11B in combined stablecoin supply, $15B in TVL, ~$450M in annualized revenue, and a $2.5B mandate to deploy into real-world assets across credit, AI infrastructure, energy, and housing.
Currently, USDS is the 3rd largest stablecoin while sUSDS is the world’s largest yield generating stablecoin. It’s clear that in a period of broader DeFi dislocation, Sky became the flight-to-safety. This is the product of a decade of rigorous risk management and protocol discipline tracing back to the earliest days of MakerDAO.
Capital markets run on trust. Sky has been building it longer than any protocol in DeFi by optimizing for one thing: capital preservation above all else. Sky is well positioned to build on that trust by expanding participation from traditional institutions across an increasingly mature ecosystem. I look forward to contributing to that effort!

Oracle parsing into human readable form information is one of the most obvious improvements being avoided for years now by major lending protocols unfortunately for IMO no reason.
Hey @aave & @Morpho, even something like this would be a huge improvement, time to step up.
To me it's insanity that still to this day, oracle reading is not made easier on directly the UI. I think it's a particularly important upgrade as Morpho still seems to be intended not to give the entire business model to curators (see the recent Monarch / Direct Lend).
The UI is entirely BLOATED already and chaotic, what does it take to add one more line "Oracle Type" making it readible for end users? Yes, curators may take the piss on this one, yes, big end allocator anyway analyze risks already, but why not, it's literally one more line in the 515 fields that already populate the page.

Moody's assigns B3 rating to @SkyEcosystem.
This is the first time a large credit rating agency has issued a formal rating for a stablecoin protocol.
Sky protocol (previously Maker) runs the USDS stablecoin, with the $SKY token governing the protocol.
B3 rating means speculative grade. This means Moody's sees the project as high-risk.
They say Sky manages ~$10B in assets, but equity/reserves are only ~$90M (a thin capital buffer).
Previously, S&P had assigned a B- rating to SKY. This makes SKY the only major DeFi protocol rated by both agencies.
The ratings benefit SKY because institutions can now apply their traditional credit models to SKY, which was previously difficult.
It improves legitimacy, increases the probability of higher demand for sUSDS as collateral, and creates new partnership opportunities for the protocol.

S&P Global Ratings has published its annual review assessment of Sky Protocol.
Over the past year, Sky Ecosystem has strengthened its Treasury Management Function, expanded financial reporting into a more transparent framework, continued raising its capital reserves, and applied a more disciplined capital-allocation framework.
S&P’s updated rationale and stable outlook provides another independent view of that progress and the work ahead.
Reserve building does not stop at the current target. It will continue as the protocol grows.
We thank S&P for its continued, rigorous review. Sky Ecosystem remains focused on strengthening financial resilience, transparency and risk management to meet the demands of institutional capital.
Not long ago, the SEC dropped heaters like SAB 121, killing so much of the space’s momentum. Today it’s writing fit-for-purpose crypto custody rules. Turns out we can make progress toward clarity, even without CLARITY.
Since the advent of Bitcoin in 2008, the crypto asset market has grown from a niche curiosity into a multi-trillion-dollar asset class to which investors actively seek exposure. Unfortunately, our rules and regulations have not kept pace.
To that end, today’s proposal would provide a clear regulatory framework for the custody of crypto assets, giving investment advisers and funds a compliant pathway where none existed before—and replacing the grey of uncertainty created by custody rules crafted for a bygone era.
Onchain users benefit from the mobility of digital dollars. No doubt the @SkyEcosystem arc is upward, but it’s normal to see funds move in and out in size as opps emerge elsewhere.
Great convo w @Game_Set_Max and @BitcoinJesusETH discussing that and more.
$SKY had $100M in revenue last quarter, and sUSDS supply is up ~150% Y/Y.
But the behavioral pattern behind that growth is fascinating. Users treat SUSDS like a savings account. They park funds there when markets are calm, then "extract value when it appears" through spot, perps, farming.
"Our users know where to store their money and to keep it safe, but then they know how to obviously extract value when it appears."

Ever wonder how a tri-party loan works?
The borrower posts collateral (typically Bitcoin). Spark provides the loan. @Anchorage sits in the middle, holding the collateral in custody so it never has to move to the lender or sit on an exchange.
This first clip from the Anchorage Digital Vibestream podcast explains how Atlas works within Anchorage Digital which acts as the qualified custodian and collateral manager, holding, tracking, and settling the collateral as the risk agent.
Sam then explains why this partnership made sense for Spark, and Spark's role in supplying the on-chain liquidity that funds the loan.
The result is institutional borrowing with on-chain capital and regulated custody working together.

We're aware of the exploit on NEAR Intents' BSC USDT bridge.

Spark is pulling away from the rest of the lending market.
Active loans have grown ~190% over the past 180d to $2.9B, making @sparkfinance the fastest-growing protocol among the top 10 by active loans.

Foreign net purchases of U.S. T-bills fell from $250.5B to $49.4B over the last 12 months, an 80% collapse or roughly $200B of lost annual demand.
Meanwhile, stablecoin issuers already hold nearly $200B of T-bills and other near-maturity Treasuries.
The math is increasingly obvious. Scale stablecoins and modern dollar infrastructure and you create a new global distribution channel for U.S. government debt.
Biggg fan of this direction, especially the clear line between real tokenized securities and synthetics, with tokens expected to carry the same rights and privileges as the underlying shares.
Don’t get me wrong, synthetics like CFDs have an important place in markets (they can provide efficient leverage, hedging, access without requiring ownership of the underlying asset etc.) but tokenization should ultimately move toward bringing the actual security onchain to preserve ownership.
IMO that’s where the market needs to go: real assets, real investor rights, onchain.

LATEST: ⚡ Sky protocol has completed its first SKY token burn, permanently destroying 2.86M tokens using 5% of its monthly net protocol surplus.
Earlier today, Geoff Kendrick, Global Head of Digital Asset Research at @StanChart, published his first research report on @SkyEcosystem. IMHO very cool to see another G-SIB who is paying significant attention to this space!
The report describes the specialization of Sky’s agent model: capital provided at a wholesale rate to allocators operating across distinct markets and strategies, within defined parameters.
From a capital markets perspective, this creates a modular structure for capital allocation. Individual agents can specialize by asset class, market or strategy, while the broader system retains a common source of capital and framework for risk (the Sky Atlas).
As the balance sheet grows, expanding the investable universe doesn’t necessarily require centralizing the investment function; it can instead mean adding specialized sources of origination, execution and risk-taking around a common capital base.
