Exactly this. Whenever Moscow conquers a country, it is impoverished, polluted and destroyed. This is what happened to Estonia's economy (compared to Finland) during the Soviet Occupation. Estonia was wealthier than Finland in 1938, the Soviet occupation (1944-1991) turned it 10 times poorer. Since freedom from the Russians was achieved, it's back on track.
“The most interesting thing is that the toothless, provincial Russian masses are absolutely convinced that they’re wanted everywhere and that people dream of Russkiy Mir coming to their countries.” — Ukrainian political analyst Borys Tizengauzen explains Russkiy Mir in simple terms that even vatniks can’t argue against. 📹 youtube.com/@tizengauzen?si=…

This Forbes investigation is a must-read. Donald Trump pulled in roughly $1.4 billion from crypto in 2025, plus more than $200 million from real estate, and faced a projected tax bill north of $500 million. So his company donated the "development rights" to his Jupiter, Florida golf course to a land trust, argued the course was a natural habitat worth protecting, and kept right on running the club. Forbes estimates the write-off could land around $825 million. He has done this at least five times since 2005. New York's attorney general alleged two of those appraisals were inflated. In Doral, he claimed a deduction of up to $323 million, more than double what he paid for the entire resort. A month after the Jupiter deal, he sued the IRS. The settlement his own Justice Department signed bars claims against him over matters that "could be pending," language that appears broad enough to cover this year's taxes. A federal judge found the case was brought to manipulate the judicial process. And the man now running the IRS, who took the job as this deal was being assembled, has a home backing onto those same Jupiter fairways. This is absolutely ridiculous. Nobody should be able to use the presidency to write his own tax bill. forbes.com/sites/danalexande…

“America First”? No. Putin First. The Trump family and Putin are making deals while Ukraine bleeds. Sanctioned company Novatek is secretly steering a $25 billion LNG project in Alaska. The CEO and other executives have resigned in disgust, unwilling to be party to the hidden Russian financing and violations of sanctions. Gentry Beach—a crony of Donald Trump Jr.—signed the agreement. Putin is discussing the entire matter with Witkoff and Kushner.
US energy company execs have resigned in disgust as the Trump family is caught secretly expediting the funneling of $25 billion from a sanctioned Russian energy giant in exchange for allowing Russians to obtain a natural gas project in Alaska. According to investigations by The New York Times and Financial Times, Russia's Novatek allegedly concealed its financial involvement in the American project through a UAE-linked intermediary. Gentry Beach, a longtime Trump ally and close friend of Donald Trump Jr., signed an agreement with Novatek to pursue natural gas development in Alaska. Reuters documented the arrangement in February. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin discussed this cooperation on the Alaska energy project with Trump's representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, during negotiations involving Russia and Ukraine. The controversy deepened when Polar Train LNG's CEO, Joel Riddle, raised concerns about concealed Russian financing and possible sanctions violations. He departed in September, followed by other senior executives. The Financial Times also described discussions about a potential arrangement under which Novatek would provide technology for the Alaska project in exchange for sanctions relief benefiting its Arctic LNG 2 development in Siberia. According to The New York Times, Riddle and two other departing executives warned the Trump administration about the Russian financing and urged officials to investigate. The White House maintains that the project was mentioned only briefly and that no detailed discussions took place. There is no established evidence that Kushner or Witkoff knew about the allegedly concealed financing. Polar Train LNG denies wrongdoing. The central question is how a sanctioned Russian energy company became involved in a major American energy venture while Putin was discussing potential economic cooperation with Trump's representatives and a longtime Trump family associate was pursuing a separate agreement with the same Russian company. Selling Alaska to the Russians or selling Ukraine to the Russians - to the Trump family it's all the same. ft.com/content/e9cfbfbb-e65a…

As Trump administration keeps insisting that Musk is the sole culprit here, the below tweet becomes more relevant. I personally believe the administration is lying, that Trump gave the order. But if not ...
I don't believe that Musk turned off Starlink to Ukraine at his own sole initiative. I believe Trump is implicated up to his painted eyebrows. But if it should be true that Musk did it - then Starlink and Space X must be nationalized by the US government immediately.

“This makes access to Meta’s platforms contingent on the free surrender of the entire digital publishing product. This is blatant theft.”
On Tuesday, two major German publisher associations called on the European Commission to prohibit Meta’s new terms of service from going into effect next week. They alleged the terms for Meta business accounts could violate the E.U.’s Digital Markets Act. niemanlab.org/2026/10/u-k-po…

Another Russian ballistic missile attack came in several waves overnight, and once again, there was no early warning from our partners. They again targeted energy facilities and infrastructure, but a medical clinic, a school, a metro station, and ordinary residential buildings were also damaged. In total, the Russians launched 16 ballistic missiles in a deliberate attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The Russians also launched more than 200 drones of various types, including jet-powered “shaheds,” with attacks spanning from the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions to the Volyn, Rivne, and Odesa regions. Sadly, there are casualties. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Those who were injured are receiving assistance. Overnight and this morning, Russia attacked energy facilities in the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Odesa, and Rivne regions. In this one night alone, more than 10 energy infrastructure facilities were damaged, and the lights went out for at least 550,000 families. Repair crews are working at the sites. Ukraine never wanted this war, and we have welcomed literally EVERY attempt by our partners to bring this war to a dignified end. We have responded positively to EVERY ceasefire proposal. Russia's response, time and again, has been ballistic missiles, “shaheds,” and killings. Putin not only doesn't want to end this war – he doesn't even want to take any steps toward de-escalation. EVERY ONE of our partners has experienced this firsthand when they heard Russia's refusals. And it is crucial to call things what they are. To call the aggressor an aggressor and help Ukraine defend lives. When deliveries of missiles for Ukraine's air defense are blocked while Russia is granted relief or delays in sanctions, this is, unfortunately, a denial of reality on the part of our partners. The reality is that the war continues, and it continues solely because of Russian strikes and Russia's desire to drag this war out. I thank everyone who recognizes this reality and helps Ukraine!

in the united states, opposition to ai isn’t fear of technology. americans haven’t suddenly become a nation of luddites. it’s a well founded belief that those with power are not going to use ai in ways that benefit the average american. this is not a comms problem. it’s a trust problem.

There are only three options: 1. Putin has bribed Trump and enough senior officials in the White House so as to exert almost total control over the administration. 2. Putin has enough kompromat on Trump and on enough senior officials so as to exert almost total control over the administration. 3. Trump and enough senior officials are sufficiently ideologically aligned with Putin so neither bribes nor kompromat are necessary to exert almost total control over the administration.

Putin, this person who is “deliberate and measured in his words,” is a serial criminal who has murdered hundreds of thousands of people. I'm sorry to repeat myself: whitewashing mass crimes is the hallmark of rogue regimes—which is what the U.S. has become under Trump and Vance.
Vance: "I've never met Putin in person. I've spoken to him on the phone. He was calmer than you might expect. The American media has a stereotype of him. He's very deliberate and measured in his words. I think, at his core, he's someone who cares about Russia's interests as he sees them. One reason he respects the President is that he recognizes the President cares about the interests of the American people."

The level of moral degeneracy required to convince yourself of this — or if not convinced, to say it anyway — is of a kind we have rarely seen before. And yet they all do it, in lockstep.
Zelensky is the single biggest obstacle to achieving peace in the Ukraine. Once everyone realizes that, this war will end and people of that region of the world can start rebuilding their lives.
