HOLLYWOOD MADE MATT DALLAS A HEARTTHROB, THEN MADE HIM FEEL ASHAMED OF WHO HE WAS. Matt Dallas became a star on Kyle XY, but behind the scenes, he was reportedly being advised to hide his sexuality, work with a speech coach, and bring a woman to red carpets to maintain his image. Imagine being in your early 20s, finally achieving your dreams, only to feel that being yourself could destroy everything you worked for. In 2019, Dallas admitted that the damage stayed with him for years. He would still catch himself thinking he sounded or acted "too gay" because those ideas had been drilled into his mind. He came out in 2013, married Blue Hamilton in 2015, and built the family life he wanted, raising two children together. The controversial part? Hollywood was happy to profit from his heartthrob image, but apparently, his authentic self wasn't considered marketable enough. Years later, Dallas admitted he wished he had never taken that advice.
