NGT asked the State Govt. to explain the step-by-step process that they have followed to exclude the portion from the notified BHS area. Next date for the final hearing is on 17 Sept 2026. The stay on tree-felling will continue until then.

Some well meaning people have planted this 4-5 yr old Banyan (ΰ€΅ΰ€‘ ) tree in the Forest dept's Miyawaki site πββοΈπ€¦ββοΈ
1. ΰ€΅ΰ€‘ and ΰ€ͺΰ€Ώΰ€ΰ€ͺΰ€³ are native species but NOT indigenous to the hill. PLEASE DO NOT PLANT THESE SPECIES ON THE TEKDI
2. ΰ€΅ΰ€‘ needs a huge amount of space around it. This Miyawaki site will have around 35k saplings per hectare soon, when the plantation starts. The Forest dept will likely have to remove this tree and plant it elsewhere.
Please share this message with everyone interested in plantation on the tekdis - do NOT plant a single tree without consulting an ecologist.
