Yesterday, out of curiosity, I tested an M-Pesa integration on a critical live system. To my shock, I was able to submit a crafted payload that resulted in a payment being marked as successful.
Never trust a payment callback blindly.
Best practices:
- Verify callbacks against the payment provider.
- Validate the Merchant Request ID and transaction details.
- Verify payment status independently where possible.
- Restrict callback access by IP where supported.
- Make callbacks idempotent to prevent duplicate processing.
- Never mark a payment as successful based on an unverified payload.
One weak payment integration can undermine the integrity of an entire system.
Security is not just about protecting your APIs. It's about protecting the business logic behind them. 🔒

My advice for anyone going through MSFT ADC layoffs/PIPs
Find a small start up in Europe. Do 3-5 years and jump to another one. Rinse and repeat.
You will get a better work life balance and less pressure.

Article 35 (1) Every citizen has the right of access to information held by the State.
Article 35 (3): The State SHALL publish and publicise any important information affecting the nation.
Disclosure of information is a Constitutional imperative not something left to the whims of one person. The era of secretive deals negotiated in the dark will end when we kick this current regime out and return our country back to the rule of Law.
This is exactly what happened with the SGR - They ( him and uhuru ) went ahead and made an agreement with the chinese, got an exorbitant loan with the promise that it will transform our economy - for something that was sold as development , we got the short end of the stick.
Remember the kimwarer and arror dams scandals? We are paying back loans on ghost projects.
And now this refinery. 10% govt stake is honestly too low for what we are giving up - not only land but years of dealing with waste management, pollution, disenfranchised local communities etc
Is it too much to ask for accountability ? And the rudeness in his tone and chest thumping in circumventing the constitution and due processes.
He really must go!
