Today, we’re launching Alpamayo 2 Super, our frontier open reasoning model for autonomous vehicles. Beyond seeing, Alpamayo understands and reasons through the complex world - thinks before it acts. It’s a powerful backbone for robotaxis, trucks, shuttles, delivery vans, tractors and the long tail of mobile robots—billions of autonomous machines someday. We’re releasing it for commercial use under OpenMDW-1.1 so teams can inspect it, fine-tune it and deploy it—open models advance safety and security. The next wave of AI is robotics—and it starts with autonomous vehicles. Great work, Alpamayo team! blogs.nvidia.com/blog/alpama…

🚨🎙️ Jürgen Klopp on Gianni Infantino’s plan to sell stakes in the FIFA World Cup; 🗣️"Look, I try to stay out of the politics, I really do. But at some point, you just have to ask: who is actually thinking about the game here? "Gianni Infantino comes out with this idea to sell twenty percent of the World Cup to private equity investors, and I just shake my head. It’s always about more money, more games, more commercialization. They want to hand out twenty million dollars to every federation to buy votes, but what about the actual sport? The World Cup isn't a tech startup you can sell stakes in to the highest bidder on Wall Street. It belongs to the players and the fans. But as usual, the people making these decisions are sitting in air-conditioned offices, miles away from a football pitch, treating a hundred years of history like an investment portfolio. "And then UEFA comes out and says, 'Oh, football has a soul, we will boycott!' Come on. Give me a break. "I’ve been criticizing UEFA for years about the Nations League, the bloated Champions League formats, and squeezing the players until they break. Now suddenly they want to act like the guardians of traditional football? It’s laughable. UEFA isn't angry because football is being commercialized—they’ve been doing that themselves for a decade. They’re just angry that FIFA found a bigger bag of money and didn't leave a cut for them. "It’s two giants fighting over who gets to keep the wallet, while the players and supporters are left in the middle, completely ignored. We keep adding tournaments, adding money, adding investors—and nobody stops to ask if the product on the pitch will even survive it."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic on to Gianni Infantino’s plan to sell stakes in the FIFA World Cup: 🗣️ “Listen to me carefully, because most of these people in suits have never understood the game and never will. They create a subsidiary. Call it FIFA Forward Enterprise. Keep majority control on paper. Sell 20% to investors who have never smelled grass. Then wave $20 million in front of every federation and pretend it’s democracy. That is not structure. That is a magic trick for lawyers. FIFA keeps the majority. FIFA keeps the board. FIFA keeps “exclusive authority” over governance, the calendar, the rules, everything that sounds important on paper. The investors get no operational role. They are only buying a slice of the cash machine. FIFA even says the investors are buying into the subsidiary, not into FIFA itself, so “nothing changes.” I have seen this movie before. Nothing changes… until the numbers start talking. Once private money owns a permanent piece of the World Cup’s revenue, the pressure never stops. More tournaments. Bigger formats. Different calendar. Different priorities. Because investors do not care about the soul of the game. They care about return. And when the federations are already bought with the $20 million “gift” and the bigger Forward payments, who exactly is going to say no? This is the same FIFA that spent decades selling the World Cup under the table. I remember the 2015 arrests. Swiss police walking into the hotel in Zurich and taking officials out in the early morning. Racketeering. Bribes. Money laundering. Hundreds of millions paid for television rights, for marketing rights, for World Cup votes. South Africa 2010. Qatar. The whole circus under Blatter. Jack Warner. Chuck Blazer singing to the Americans. Blatter and Platini banned for that $2 million “gentlemen’s agreement” that suddenly appeared when it was convenient. The Ethics Committee, the indictments, the years of “we are cleaning the house.” And now the house is cleaner, they say. Now instead of brown envelopes and secret payments, we have subsidiaries, minority non-controlling stakes, permanent capital vehicles, JPMorgan valuations, and carefully selected long-term partners. Same hunger for money. Same system of buying loyalty from the 211 associations. Only the language got more expensive. Infantino stands there and talks about democracy and opportunity. I am Zlatan. I do not need the $20 million and I do not need the speech. Most of these federations do need the money. That is exactly why this structure is dangerous. You are not offering development. You are offering a transaction: take the cash, vote yes by September, and stay quiet while pieces of the World Cup become private equity assets. Football does not belong to FIFA. FIFA belongs to football. The moment you put shareholders inside the commercial heart of the World Cup and call it progress, you have already admitted the game is for sale. They just found a prettier way to write the contract this time. I played at the highest level. I saw real power and real money. This is neither. This is bureaucracy protecting itself while selling the one thing that still belongs to the people who actually love the game. Keep your structure. Keep your valuations. Keep your minority non-controlling stakes. The World Cup was never meant to have owners in suits. It was meant to be bigger than all of you.

Incredible to see the open model momentum continue. Seeing more than 230 organizations rally around open weights reinforces what’s possible when the ecosystem comes together. Thank you to @Microsoft for your partnership, and to everyone helping strengthen the open ecosystem. 🤝
Since launching last week, more than 230 companies and organizations from across the tech sector have signed the "Open Weights and American AI Leadership" open letter. We want to thank these partners for standing up and publicly supporting broader access to AI innovation. A special thanks to @nvidia, @a16z, and @PalantirTech for working with @Microsoft on this effort. These signatories understand that America’s AI leadership will not depend on the success of our frontier models alone, but on our ability to build a strong, secure, and open ecosystem that diffuses AI into every sector. We look forward to continuing to work with our partners and with policymakers to build that open ecosystem in a way that benefits American businesses, empowers American workers, and strengthens the American economy.

Attackers have frontier AI. Defenders need a frontier AI ecosystem—the best open and closed models, force-multiplied by a global community. During the Hugging Face incident, closed AI blocked essential forensics. An open-weight frontier model helped contain the intrusion. That’s why we created the Open Secure AI Alliance.
AI security advances when the industry builds in the open, together. We're introducing the Open Secure AI Alliance with industry leaders to develop new techniques and tools to safeguard software and agents. By sharing models, tooling and research in the open, we can broaden the community of defenders. Learn more about the founding members’ contributions: nvda.ws/4pD8Fc5

A 33-year-old woman at MIT wrote the code that ran inside the Apollo 11 lunar lander, and 20 seconds before Neil Armstrong touched the moon, her program made a decision the astronauts didn't know was happening that was the only reason the mission didn't crash. Her name was Margaret Hamilton. She led the team writing every line of code that would fly humans to the moon and back. The part almost nobody knows is that she had to fight to be allowed to do the work at all. Code in 1965 was not treated as real work. Rockets were serious. Circuits were serious. Writing code was something the men at NASA thought secretaries could do on the side. Hamilton was told this to her face more than once. So she started calling what her team did "software engineering." She used the phrase on purpose. In meetings. In memos. To force people to treat it as a discipline instead of a chore. Colleagues laughed at her the first few times she said it out loud. That phrase is now the name of the biggest engineering profession on earth. The story of what her code did on July 20, 1969 is the one every kid should be taught. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were 3 minutes from touching down when the computer inside the lunar module started flashing an alarm. 1202. Then again. Then 1201. Five alarms in four minutes. The computer was telling the astronauts it could not finish everything it had been asked to do. The computer they were flying with had less memory than a modern microwave. Someone on the checklist had left a switch in the wrong position, and a radar the astronauts did not even need right then was flooding the computer with data. It was eating around 13% of the machine's brain at the exact moment every second mattered. In almost any other system, that overload would have frozen the machine. A frozen machine 30,000 feet above the moon means a crash. It means two dead astronauts and a third one orbiting alone above them, waiting for a signal that would never come. Hamilton's code did something else. She had built the software with a rule almost nobody in her field was using at the time. When the machine ran out of room, it would not treat every task as equally important. It would look at the list of jobs it had been asked to do, throw out the ones that could wait, and keep running only the ones keeping the crew alive. The radar was the low priority job. The landing was the highest. So the computer did what she had told it to do. It dumped the radar. It kept flying. The alarm was not a failure. It was the machine reporting that it was handling the overload exactly the way she had designed it to. Down in Houston, a 24-year-old engineer named Jack Garman recognized the alarm from a test his team had run months earlier. He shouted "Go" to the flight controller. The controller shouted it up to the crew. The landing kept going. Armstrong touched the surface with 25 seconds of fuel left. The part that gets lost in every retelling is why Hamilton had built that safety net in the first place. NASA had not asked for it. She had added it on her own, years earlier, because her 4-year-old daughter Lauren had once crashed the simulator by pressing a button during a test. The button was one the astronauts had been told they would never press. Hamilton wanted the code to survive that button press anyway. Her bosses told her it was a waste of time. Astronauts do not make mistakes. She insisted. The safety net went in. Two years later, on the way to the moon, an astronaut left a switch in the wrong position. The exact class of mistake she had been told would never happen. There is a photograph of her from that period. She is standing next to a stack of paper as tall as she is. Every page in that stack is the code her team wrote for the mission. She is smiling at the camera like she knows something the rest of the aerospace industry has not figured out yet. In 2016, Barack Obama put the Presidential Medal of Freedom around her neck and said the astronauts did not have much time, but thankfully, they had Margaret Hamilton. Every autopilot in every plane you have ever flown on uses a version of what she invented. Every pacemaker. Every self driving car. Every satellite in orbit. The idea that a machine should know which job matters most and drop the rest when it runs out of room is now the foundation of almost every safety system on the planet. She wrote it because a 4 year old crashed a simulator and nobody else thought it was worth fixing. The men in the room laughed at her for calling it engineering. Then her code was the only thing in the sky that did not fail.

Fantastic and important work by the leadership teams at @linuxfoundation & @NVIDIAAI to take a first critical step toward a more open AI model ecosystem. #openAI
We're adopting the Linux Foundation’s OpenMDW framework across our open model families. This helps make open model licensing simpler and more consistent at scale. A single legal framework across models, code, documentation, and data helps reduce friction for developers and enterprises building with open source.
