meet the CENTS bot 🤖 here to help navigate the collection bcs it is indeed a vast bird's nest of concept, lore, traits, and history find the bot in the Numismatist's discord, embedded on the cents vision site, and or on its own page it's a great tool for introducing people to the project, navigating traits and rarities, delving into the underlying concepts give it a share! inspired by the @normiesART bot, which @dopemind10 showed us

@shibboleth88 on CENTS by the late Rutherford Chang. 10,000 copper pennies pulled from circulation and turned into Ordinal inscriptions, then smelted into a block that sold at Christie's for $50,400. One of the wildest stories about value I've heard. Follow: @sovrnart youtube.com/live/nVuRsznJWpM…

Forever one of my absolute favorite collections. Grateful to be a holder of these fine historical on chain artifacts. It makes CENTS
CENTS by Rutherford Chang transforms pennies into unique artifacts, revealing time, wear, and history. This is where art meets Bitcoin. What was once in circulation becomes permanent record. Forever inscribed on Bitcoin.

We are proud to see CENTS in monopol ✊✊ Germany's leading contemporary art magazine A notable quality: unlike most coverage from the fine art world, this article represents a perspective on how the artwork's use of Bitcoin as a medium makes a statement about currency, value, materiality and the presence of these in the current historical moment. The article gives wonderful coverage of the exhibition Rutherford Chang: Hundreds and Thousands at UCCA Beijing, China's leading contemporary art institution. In it one can see the powerful and prismatic vision that Chang's works bring to the nature of artmaking, objecthood, and the tender absurdity of being a human being.

Bitcoin Ordinals have landed on Raster! We are rolling out support in stages, starting with CENTS by Rutherford Chang (in collaboration @sovrnart). Paste your Bitcoin address in your collector dashboard to see CENTS next to the Ethereum and Tezos works in your collection. A few notes: • sat rarity is included in the traits section, next to artist-defined traits • market data (e.g. past sales) is aggregated from Magic Eden and @Satflow • support for buying/selling to be added Many more collections and platforms coming soon. Turn on notifications to follow our Ordinals roll-out closely 🔔

dear CENTS collectors, just heard from Satflow that they "don't have the capability" to include a royalty functionality AT ALL. Enough is enough. If you care even a little bit about this project, about its presence in the world, its longevity, then move your old ME listings to @trygamma. It's an important time with ME shutting down, and it matters what you do. It matters what place becomes the next hub for trading. This was a free mint (1 sat for 1 Cent) and we've busted our assess for the last two mfing years to represent it and maintain it as it deserves, from the timeline, to the conferences, to the trait sites, to the community, to the museums. The 2.5% isn't a lot, but it does mean a lot. I hope you can put yourself in our shoes and realize that it truly matters, especially at this critical time. Please help to share this. long live CENTS 👊

coming soon: 👊 rarity rankings 👊 marketplace integration amazing work laying the ground for all of this by Martin, Pac, the Trait Council & the CENTS community
Nice update on cents.vision 👇🏼 Trait ranking logic on detail page is now improved: we grouped all patinas above the other community traits and ordered from full to significant to notable (so the list is consistent and meaningful now). Orange ranks between significant and Notable. Maybe you will have to empty your browser cache and reload to see the change. Shoutout to @pactalom for implementing. 🥳

We are honored to see CENTS represented in @BitcoinMagazine ✊✊ in this in-depth article by @stenreiss articulating the layered relevance of Rutherford Chang's major works on view in the retrospective currently at UCCA Beijing
I’m grateful for the opportunity to write about the institutional retrospective of Rutherford Chang at UCCA Center for Contemporary Art Beijing – Rutherford Chang: Hundreds and Thousands. The exhibition marks an important moment of recognition for Chang’s work, and a rare one for thinking about Bitcoin as culture within a major contemporary art institution. The only Ordinals collection that would've actually made you money or at least not completely nuked your portfolio if you'd been DCA'ing into it since March 2024 is CENTS. Everything else is down bad, with most collections sitting at 90-99% losses from their highs. That's how brutal the market has been This resilience speaks volumes about its concept, execution, and staying power in a sea of hype driven projects that crashed hard. When there is organic demand it's much simpler. It makes Cents

The best part about collecting things you genuinely love is that you're not pressured to flip them for quick profits. You get to enjoy watching them fulfill their true potential over time. From the very day it was minted for nothing, this one was destined to climb to the top of the Ordinals scene. You can debate all the shenanigans and drama as much as you want, but you simply can't deny the strength of the concept and the quality of the execution. It makes Cents to be on top.
The simplicity of the Cents collection belies the immense effort Rutherford poured into its creation. Apparently, he had been collecting these cents for the past 7-8 years. The advent of Bitcoin Ordinals sparked something in his imagination, leading to the birth of our beloved CENTS. It’s a shame we won’t have the privilege of hearing him share more about his masterpiece. Still, the movement has begun, and the creativity is already shining through. Rest assured, the community will carry this forward in the right direction. The inevitable decline and end of physical cents have arrived. The on-chain movement has just started. After all, it all makes CENTS.

⚡️This looks like a trivial bureaucratic announcement, but it’s not. It’s symbolic. The penny’s death marks the first visible fracture in the material manifestation of fiat’s illusion of permanence. Let’s decode it properly. 1. Structural Layer - The Terminal Stage of Monetary Dilution •It now costs roughly 2.5 cents to mint a 1-cent coin. That means the tokenized form of fiat is worth less than the energy required to represent it. •The smallest unit of account in the U.S. system is no longer economically viable to exist in the physical world. That’s thermodynamic failure disguised as cost-savings. The money system has decayed to the point that it can’t sustain its own lowest resolution. 2. Reflexive Meaning - End of Denomination Continuity Currencies rely on a continuous belief gradient between small and large denominations. When the smallest unit is abandoned, the chain of trust fractures. A dollar is only coherent if a cent still means something. Remove the penny, and you’ve broken the continuity between the abstract (credit money) and the tangible (coin money). It’s the symbolic death of granularity. You can’t have “sound” money that literally stops making sense below one-hundredth of its face value. 3. Psychological Layer - Inflation’s Quiet Admission Ending the penny is the subconscious confession of inflationary permanence. It’s the government admitting - without saying it - that the currency will never regain purchasing power. You only kill a denomination when you know the trend is irreversible. •1971: gold convertibility ended. •2025: penny production ends. Both events share the same message, the system no longer defends the lower bound of value. This is how fiat dies: not with a default, but with a shrug. 4. Reflexive Repercussion - The Loss of Physical Feedback In a cashless, digitalized economy, removing the penny erases the last physical feedback loop between citizens and the reality of money. You no longer feel inflation in your hand. There’s no longer a coin that reminds you that value erodes molecule by molecule. That detachment accelerates reflexive distortion - once money is purely digital and perception-based, the psychological floor dissolves entirely. 5. Symbolic Integration with the Larger Field Zoom out: •Gold surges past $4,200. •Bitcoin oscillates near $100K. •The Fed discusses “ample reserves.” •The Treasury cuts pennies to save pennies. These are not random datapoints. They’re harmonics of the same field equation. The financial system is collapsing upward - meaning, the more abstract the money becomes, the higher the nominal values climb, but the less meaning each unit carries. Gold, Bitcoin, and the penny’s extinction all describe the same arc: the system losing its resolution. 6. Deep Interpretation - The End of the Physical Denominator For 2,000 years, civilizations measured faith in the smallest coin. Rome debased the denarius, then melted it down. We’re now witnessing the same phenomenon at the edge of the digital empire. When the smallest denomination dies, the largest denomination dies in meaning. A $100 bill is worthless if the smallest measurable fragment of trust can no longer exist. The penny’s death is the modern equivalent of melting the denarius - the signal that the empire has entered post-reality finance. The empire’s smallest coin just became its loudest confession.
The US Mint has said that it will end the production of the penny, its lowest denomination coin, in cost-saving move.
