Tuchel out. Bottled it when we were winning. Tactical suicide cost us a World Cup Final. Sack him tonight.
1 June 2026. On holiday in Madeira listening to the Master on You Tube from 01 June 2018. God, how we miss #SteveWright . Never a day goes past when I don’t think about just what a genius he was. @justineclaire75 what a friend you lost, what a friend we all lost 🥲 Still hurts..
Away in Cape Verde for Christmas this year, but some traditions must be upheld. Watching Carols From Kings on iPlayer live, absolutely stunning as always. Reminds me of family that have passed and Christmas as a child in the 1970’s. We seemed to have less but yet so much more..
12 months ago today we tragically lost the Master, #stevewright.
Thinking of you today @justineclaire75 and all friends of the great man on here. Radio hasn’t been the same since and never will be. How we miss him.

21.8.23. 12 months ago. 7pm. We were about to be treated to some of #stevewright’s finest ever work. Summer Nights. 4 nights of magic from The Master. Little did we know just 6 mths later he’d be gone. Missed. Everyday. 🖤
To all fans of the late, great #stevewright. There have been many wonderful tributes to the Master this week, but none better than this one earlier tonight from @djgarydavies. Sublime and packed full of Wrighty clips. Just brilliant. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001wz…
Just when I thought the tributes to the Master, #stevewright couldn’t get any better, this is sensational.
Amazing insight from one of Steve’s closest friends, Mark Wells. Poignant, emotional, fascinating and in parts jaw dropping. Absolute gold.

Thank you @BBCRadio2. @djgarydavies will host Pick Of The Pops on Saturday and Liza Tarbuck presents a tribute to the Master, #stevewright on Sunday for Love Songs.
Any REMOTE chance of somebody at @BBCRadio2 updating the Sounds App and schedule?
1. Who is presenting Pick of the Pops on Saturday? Steve pre-recorded?
2. I think I heard that Lisa Tarbuck is doing Love Songs on Sunday (should be @justineclaire75 in my opinion), again nothing?
A few seconds before @elliegrace321 and I got our “shaat aat” on Summer Nights thanks to @Andyfromtheexe, #stevewright gave us a rare insight into how losing SWITA hurt him. Take a listen. It troubled me at the time, even more so now.

Wouldn’t it have been fitting and a wonderful gesture for R2 to let @justineclaire75 host Love Songs this weekend?
Few people knew The Master #stevewright like she did.
❤️❤️❤️
He would have loved that..
Like I said yesterday👇it broke all our hearts. But most of all it broke his heart. 💔
Avoidable, unnecessary and a tragic waste of world class talent. We’ve been robbed of a genius..
#SteveWright
Sickening and gut wrenching to read. From the person that wanted to “try something different in the afternoons” back in 2022 and in the process spectacularly broke the hearts of the nation - and no doubt that of the Master #stevewright too.
To think, we’ve been robbed of this genius again in 2024. #SummerNights was another reminder of just how utterly brilliant this man was - and what a ridiculous decision it was to axe #SteveWrightInTheAfternoon. He brought magic to everything he touched…
Cheeky “exclusive” news from the Mighty Wrighty casually dropped a few minutes ago.
“We wanted Summer time, anyway I’ll be back next year”
#summernights 2024.

He was, quite simply, brilliant…a broadcaster in a class of his own. As a tribute to Steve Wright, I play the Steve Wright in the Afternoon theme. #SteveWright

Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2 said:
“Steve understood the connection and companionship that radio engenders better than anyone, and we all loved him for it.
He was a consummate professional whose attention to detail was always second to none, and he made his guests laugh, he was fair, and he wanted to showcase them and their work in the best possible light, bringing brilliant stories to our listeners.

@elliegrace321 @Andyfromtheexe
The closest we ever got to the great man.
RIP The Master #stevewright
Now this REALLY will haunt me forever..........God bless you. The Master #stevewright. Sleep well. The best. My hero.
That video will haunt me forever. This country’s finest broadcaster, #stevewright publicly humiliated at his place of work by a cruel, inhuman and detached management who completely missed the nation’s sentiment. Awful to watch.

Whatever happened here @justineclaire75? A wall of silence ever since...
Great that we get Pick of The Pops with the master, #stevewright, but Fridays without the Jockin' are terrible. We were promised....🤷♂️TWO New Years later...
So brilliant having @tonyblackburn on @BBCRadio2 over Christmas and New Year. Great music from one of the legends of the airwaves.
Boxing Day and New Year’s Day Soul. Class…
A rare festive treat for Christmas Eve.
#stevewright and Sunday Love Songs on Radio 2. Not the usual wonderful selection of “choons”, but still great to hear The Master.
