After yesterday’s post about the Russell Brand trial, my inbox was flooded with people claiming this is all just a coordinated media conspiracy.
Well, I hope those same people actually read what came out of Southwark Crown Court today, because Brand took the witness stand and completely shredded his own defense.
Under cross-examination, he openly admitted to "inconsistencies" in his evidence, awkwardly asking the prosecution for forgiveness.
Even more damning, his own barrister asked him if a single friend or colleague from twenty-five years in showbusiness was willing to stand up in that courtroom and speak for his character.
His answer was no. Not a single person would touch him with a barge pole. Think about what that actually means. Decades surrounded by entourages, agents, and industry friends, and not one human being is willing to take an oath on his behalf.
Then look at how he described women to the jury today.
He admitted saving a complainant’s name in his phone labeled with a degrading slur and a sexual act. When asked if a woman expressed reluctance to an encounter, he casually dismissed her hesitation as "coquettishness and coyness."
This is not a misunderstood free-thinker being silenced for his politics. This is an arrogant narcissist who used celebrity status to treat women like disposable commodities, and is now watching his carefully rehearsed narrative crumble under basic legal scrutiny.
Stop falling for the staged internet guru act. The admissions coming out of his own mouth in that courtroom tell you everything you need to know.

It's strange how NF reportedly accepted £5m for his security 🤔 and didn't use it towards any kind of vetting - Ryan Dinnage has been jailed for 8 years.

In un mondo di amori usa e getta, loro sono rimasti insieme 50 anni.
Lui era l'uomo più desiderato di Hollywood.
Lei, il suo unico amore.
Quando gli chiedevano perché non tradisse mai, rispose:

If he'd put himself up for party leader,
and if he'd won the confidence of members
and if he'd transformed the party to be electable
and if he'd put forward his preferred manifesto
and if the electorate liked it
and if he'd won a parliamentary majority
then...

83 years later it's more relevant than ever.

All that has been achieved by this Coup is new faces learning new roles at the expense of the Country. There is no magic money tree and now we have the grifters in charge and the grafters have been pushed aside. Thanks for that you bunch of self satisfied twats.

Exactly as many of us predicted. John Healey’s resignation was pointless; they’re doing precisely what Keir would have done. Darren Jones, Labour’s most competent figure, is on the backbenches, while our best Prime Minister is gone.

Well the Healey Budget hasn’t set the world on fire judging by the headlines today. So I think we can all say job done. Mediocre budget, mediocre Chancellor. Mediocre kind of sums it all up. I remember Rachel’s powerful speech and delivery for the last two budgets. Miss her.
Excuses... Excuses.... Excuses...

Peak British NIMBYism.

Neither @JohnHealey_MP nor @andyburnham want to upset their 'Lefties MPs' during the last 3 years of this Government. So will not even try to bring the Welfare Budget down until 2030+. So we'll have 3 years of PM 'soundbites' & increased Government costs. @KemiBadenoch

Sorry @UKLabour. Not feeling the "Hope" and your extremely annoying reference to "breathing space" is becoming claustrophobic. We voted to end gaslighting. Since you enabled this narcissistic "Mayor" and his laughable sidekicks, you've taken "gaslighting" to the next level.
"Andy Burnham's first-time buyer scheme could raise house prices by increasing demand without enough new homes being built"
🚨 SUMMARY: The OBR forecasts following John Healey's Budget
- Welfare spending will rise to £431.3bn by 2030/31 - an increase of £97.5bn a year in cash terms
- This includes £209.8bn on pensioner benefits, £110.7bn on Universal Credit, £69.6bn on disability benefits, £13.9bn on Child Benefit and £27.2bn on other welfare
- Inflation will peak at 3.75% in early 2027, up from the earlier prediction of 2%
- UK GDP growth will slow from around 1.25% in 2026 to 1% in 2027, before climbing to 1.6% in 2031
- Average UK unemployment will rise to 5.1% across 2026 and 2027
- The Employment Rights Act will "likely" have a negative economic impact because of reduced flexibility and greater uncertainty for businesses
- The landlord tax increases (property income) could contribute to a long-term rise in private rents and discourage landlords from entering the market
- Real household disposable income per person will be around 0.75% lower in 2030-31 than it expected in March 2026
- Higher earnings and frozen tax thresholds will increase income tax and National Insurance receipts by £9bn in 2026-27 and around £8bn on average in subsequent forecast years compared with March
- Net migration is forecast to fall to 120,000 in the year to mid-2026, then gradually rise to 230,000 by the year to mid-2031
- Nominal weekly earnings growth will slow to around 3.5% in 2026, then average roughly 2.25% a year
- Andy Burnham's first-time buyer scheme could raise house prices by increasing demand without enough new homes being built

Cc John Healey.
Subject:
Hope.
In my view the constant reference to "Hope" is becoming tiresome and has outlived its usefulness as a metaphor for delay.

because it prolongs the torment"
