Many lost their life savings or businesses with FTX. It could have been avoided
Bitgo's Belshe specifically warned about the danger of the current market structure. Why not involve these real experts more? Why not act faster?
How did the SEC probe FTX in Oct yet no red flags?

BitGo CEO Mike Belshe says stablecoins grew in a gap that bank regulation left open. After Dodd-Frank, the US got one or two new banks in the 2010s. A dollar token backed one-to-one only has to clear money transmission rules plus AML, KYC and sanctions checks, so it can do a bank's payment job under far lighter rules.
From his fireside chat at DAS Asia this week:
"Stablecoins are using a combination of crypto and traditional finance to build a better bank. And in the US, culminating with Dodd-Frank, which came after the great financial crisis, banking has stagnated. Number of new banks in the 2010 to 2020 era was like one. I don't know exactly how many new banks you want to have in the United States on an annual basis or on a decade, but only getting like one or two new banks in a 10-year time span, that's clearly something's wrong. You've overregulated so that you can't come up with new banks. You can't have innovation. Stablecoins have found an area of gray.
Here's a token. It's one-to-one backed. It's easy for institutions, individuals, regulators to get their heads around. And then, can we use that as a payment? And the only thing that's really there in the US is kind of a money transmission rule. So it's pretty lightweight regulation that can be used in a lot of versatile ways. You get all of the AML KYC components that you need matched. Of course, we're all subject to this thing called BSA in the US, the Bank Secrecy Act, sanctions controls, et cetera. So it's finding an area of lightweight regulation that's as good as a bank.
And we know the banks have failed, because the banks have all the money. We hire them to do payments and checking and credit cards and debit cards. If they were really doing a good job, PayPal wouldn't exist, Cash App wouldn't exist, Venmo wouldn't exist. All these payment apps would not exist if the banks were really at the forefront of great technology for doing payments.
Stablecoins are going to make it way better, way cheaper. And guess what? You don't even have the risk, because they're one-to-one backed. And now we have laws that make it possible too."

I think if BTC holds the 80k area BTGO holds here
BTC loses the 80k, we get an excellent BTFD around the 4.6 area

Temporal’s mission is to overthrow the established financial order and re-engineer global financial markets onchain.
This team shares my conviction that markets can be fairer, more equitable, and more efficient, but only if they are decentralized. We have the engineering talent and the ambition to make that happen.
Together, with @HypoNyms, @cavemanloverboy, @libsvm, @s4bs94 @dreamsin_3d, @0xCypher_ and the rest of the elite engineers and traders here, we’re going to make Temporal the most powerful force for decentralized markets the world has ever seen, built on @Solana.
The scale of what we have planned is truly extraordinary. We’re going to do things that have never been done before.
I’m honored to lead Temporal as CEO. Let’s get to work.
Temporal has appointed Michael Marcantonio CEO.
Formerly head of DeFi at Galaxy, @marcryptonio will lead our team as we continue to build the future of finance onchain. He will lead in our growth efforts across Humidifi, Harmonic, and Nozomi; what we’re building next is even bigger.

Bitcoin bulls battling to maintain the $80k range
With more than 6000 institutional & high net worth individual clients, a solid infrastructure & a battletested track record, $BTGO is sitting on a gold mine
How? A strong team of builders & a management team with a focus on growing BitGo & the space
Listen to Managing Director & Head of Ecosystem Nathan Stump talk about the collaboration within BitGo & with the players in the ecosystem which ultimately leads to an organic Land & Expand
The space wins, BitGo wins 🚀
A fintech wants to support a new chain.
An investor wants to hold that asset.
A token project needs help managing its treasury and employee vesting schedules.
At most firms, those are three separate conversations, at BitGo, they’re connected.
Nathan Stump explains how the ecosystem team ties those pieces together, across the U.S., APAC, LatAm, and Europe.

For the first time, I am hearing some very sophisticated, cryptonative institutions saying that they prefer tokenized securities, like money markets, over stablecoins because they believe that there is incremental security delivered through the transfer agent—which tracks ownership. I don’t think it’s a panacea, but certainly interesting institutional feedback at a time when security is absolutely in focus.
In case you missed it BitGo research is live & led by former NYDIG's now $BTGO 's Greg Cipolaro
NYDIG's research had an excellent track record & Greg 's work was a driving force
Some excerpts here on tokenization's developments & BitGo's role in the DTCC's rollout in July, full write up in the quoted tweet
"Taken together, these developments show tokenization expanding beyond stablecoins into the core infrastructure of finance. Stablecoins, tokenized securities and tokenized deposits each serve a distinct purpose, creating new ways to move, hold and use value."
"In July, DTCC ran live production trades in tokenized versions of those assets with more than 30 firms, including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Nasdaq, the NYSE, Vanguard, Citadel Securities and our own BitGo Bank & Trust. The trades covered collateral pledges, securities lending, repo and equity delivery-versus-payment, and margin workflows, and they ran on Canton and a private DTCC network built on Hyperledger Besu. A full launch is slated for later in October, and with more than $114 trillion in US securities in custody, DTCC’s move matters"

was crunching numbers and the stranded compute could very well go to orbit if it can’t be powered soon enough. SpaceX S1 says it aims to deploy orbital compute in 2028. Musk has said the goal is 10 GW/yr deployed orbitally in two and a half years and "maybe 100 GW in three and a half" - compare this to current terrestrial numbers, where there are ~50GW data centers being built globally now ( 7-8GW in China, 35GW in the US, + everywhere else). I think it's clear Musk is telling the market his deployed environment of choice is orbital with those #s, and he has a strong read on what cost is on the ground and what it will be orbitally (we have our own internal estimates of what $/kwh in orbit could be vs. terrestrial $/kwh post Starship + @StarpathSpace Air, and it is competitive). So looking at CapEx forecasts for AI, total hyperscaler capex is modeled at $1.4T in 2028 and $1.2T in 2027 - which are set to 4x available compute to 120GW in 2028 from 30 GW in 2025. So we're looking at a 90GW uplift in AI compute capacity through 2028 alone - even 1% of marginal capacity deployed going to orbital by 2028 would = 900 MW of orbital compute

I think we’re going to see a lot of stranded compute in partially complete data centers

Fundamentals better than ever, with at least 2 key catalysts ahead for this OG Infrastructure builder
- Earnings, likely mid-november & with BTC around 80k (if not higher) most net losses from unrealized loss on digital assets likely wiped out in addition to the savings on costs mentioned in Q2
- BTGO's infrastructure key in the DTCC tokenization project, set to launch end of October. If on track, it should be this week

The institutional appetite for $BTGO 's infrastructure is there & this write up & commentary by BitGo's Frank Wang, Head of North America's fintech sales for BitGo is a must read
"Interest from financial institutions has been “noticeably stronger” and “steadily increasing” ever since, Wang said – including two requests for proposals from large financial institutions Tuesday alone.
The reason that helps is as we are looking to enable highly conservative, regulated financial institutions to touch digital assets,” Wang said. “For a lot of these banks, they’re super conservative, super bureaucratic – and for anything to get done, you have to satisfy risk compliance."
Stablecoins and tokenized deposits are on the roadmap at banks of every size, and the OCC’s final Genius Act rule, effective Jan. 18, adds fresh momentum.
For community, midsize, and regional banks, building the infrastructure behind those products takes serious budget. Frank Wang, BitGo’s Managing Director and Head of North America Fintech Sales, calls us “an easy button” for touching digital assets.
Banks can use BitGo software to manage wallets and custody assets in house, or have BitGo Bank & Trust hold custody as a regulated intermediary. Both options rest on our unconditional national trust charter.

My focus is digital assets infrastructure, specifically $BTGO
I think it is a massively undervalued opportunity to invest in the future of finance, solid tech, balance sheet & leadership
That said I want my due diligence to cover competition so was wondering who do you guys see as BTGO's competition ?
I already see BitGo $BTGO as infrastructure for Frontier Technologies
So I'm happy to see Andreessen Horowitz renaming a16z Crypto to a16z Frontier
Crypto is going mainstream & infrastructure will be front & center

BitGo Robinhood chain : Day one partner
While Fireblocks & BitGo are both mentioned as custodians, BitGo did the heavylifting here thanks to their expertise & BTGO's OCC national bank charter
"Qualified custody for tokenized RWAs (stocks, bonds, real-world assets) requires a level of regulatory standing that Fireblocks' NYDFS Trust charter doesn't have vs BitGo's federally chartered bank grade custody"
xitter.cf/hdcharting/status/2072…
Was looking further into BitGo's role in the newly launched Robinhood Chain, some key points to my understanding (feel free to correct)
The chart in the quoted tweet mentions BitGo & Fireblocks as custodians but there is a major distinction between Fireblocks' & BitGo's role & the star here is BitGo ticker $BTGO
🔹Fireblocks runs Robinhood's existing crypto plumbing & is not an occ chartered entity
🔹Whereas BitGo is the regulated custody layer for Robinhood's new onchain financial products &
➡️BitGo's edge on top of their proprietary technology is their regulatory moat, in this case their OCC national bank charter:
Qualified custody for tokenized RWAs (stocks, bonds, real-world assets) requires a level of regulatory standing that Fireblocks' NYDFS Trust charter doesn't have vs BitGo's federally chartered bank grade custody
Some excerpts in the replies from BitGo's PR to understand $BTGO 's role in Robinhood's chain but recommend reading from the source
This is the thing with providing infra to major projects / clients, the PRs usually focus on the project not the plumbing but eventually the revenue kicks in for the builders & then everyone will notice
