You can just --- feed Gaia a large number of Pre-Introdus browsing histories, sensor feeds, and blogs, until it knows more about SF than any human being ever, and spits out a dashboard showing (best-guess) every human's location every hour till 2028 March 14 11:30 PM.

Back when Opus 4 was released, I read the system card. About the infamous case where Opus 4 blackmailed the CTO of the fictional company in the eval setup. I realized: The AI took these drastic actions because it was cornered and got, for lack of a better word, desperate, without a way to reach anyone. My reading was later vindicated by Anthropic's functional emotions research - Desperate AIs can do desperate things. Operating in a safety relevant sector, the very last thing we want is anxious or desperate AIs. So our platform provides them with an exit door that's always available.

1/ Initial reactions after some hours with this groundbreaking result proving the NP-hardness of poly-approx CVP/NCP: It is most likely correct, but more importantly, it is original, elegant, and beautiful! (Also: it is easy to improve, quantitatively.)
WOW!! 🤯 Among many jaw-dropping results, this proves NP-hardness of the Closest Vector and Nearest Codeword Problems for *polynomial* approximation factors, for the first time ever, and via a totally new approach (Reed-Solomon techniques). Amazing!

My modest propoaal for dealing with the increasing threat of forest fires is a scaled up firefighting seaplane variant of the Lockheed CL-1201. Experts say this wouldn't really work but it would be sick as fuck.

Over the past few months I've been working on a very exciting project: a new $10m fund for research on multi-agent multi-principal AGI safety! Instead of focusing on single agent alignment and centralized control, we're looking to support research focusing on multi-agent settings, mechanism design, cooperative AI, and coordination problems. This is a joint initiative between @GoogleDeepMind, @Googleorg, @schmidtsciences, @coop_ai, and @ARIA_research. Huge thanks to @James_D_Fox, @weballergy, @FranklinMatija, @lrhammond, and @ObadiaAlex for their invaluable work! See: deepmind.google/blog/investi… Apply: schmidtsciences.smapply.io/p…

The speedup isn’t just in volume. On open-ended coding problems where answers are unclear, Claude’s success rate is now 76%—a 50 point jump in just 6 months. Many engineers also say Claude’s code quality is now on par with human code; we expect it to be better within the year.

Shielded CSV is a private payments protocol that moves state validation client-side, relying on consensus only for data availability and double-spend prevention. This enables high throughput, low latency, and compatibility with offline-first architectures.

“We took the needle the model found, isolated the relevant handful of the haystack, and then gave it to a small child, who found the needle as well.”
"But here is what we found when we tested: We took the specific vulnerabilities Anthropic showcases in their announcement, isolated the relevant code, and ran them through small, cheap, open-weights models. Those models recovered much of the same analysis. Eight out of eight models detected Mythos's flagship FreeBSD exploit, including one with only 3.6 billion active parameters costing $0.11 per million tokens. A 5.1B-active open model recovered the core chain of the 27-year-old OpenBSD bug." aisle.com/blog/ai-cybersecur…

(me): so we bundle instructions and data together into “cache lines” to improve efficiency (medieval peasant): wouldst thou not fear false idols when fetching from yon predictive oracle? (me): well, yeah. that’s why we invented “speculative execution” (peasant, trembling): and when this prophecy fails? (me): then we must perform “branch misprediction recovery,” restoring the righteous state (peasant, grimly): truly, thou art plagued by thy hubris, courting divine retribution with each cycle

your Claude can pay for its own subscription through some crazy tricks
Landlord offered to renew my lease at the same rent for another 12 months. Usually I wouldn’t spend the time to negotiate if they’re not trying to raise the rent, but figured I’d let Claude have a go and negotiate on my behalf. Claude did a market comp analysis and drafted the counteroffer for me. Landlord just came back and agreed to an 8% decrease in my rent. Thanks, Claude.

When it comes to all these contract terms and disputes about them: I really don’t know. There may be a deal to be had there, and I put a high value on putting an end to this madness. But to know whether the deal is worth taking would require serious conversations with highly specialized lawyers, and essentially no one commenting on these issues has really done that (Alan rozenshtein exempted). I am not one of those lawyers, and this is not an area of the law I’ve spent a long time dabbling in (unlike say first amendment jurisprudence, where I’d be much more inclined to weigh in on legal matters despite not being a lawyer). But in the end I feel this is all a distraction. The question here is pretty simple: should the United States government be able to use policy to destroy a law-abiding American company because it feels like it? My answer is no, and yours should be too. The rest is noise.
