OMG I just had YouTube play a video with AI autodubbing and it's the worst thing I've ever heard. Garbage English instead of Japanese for an anime commercial... true AI vomit. To disable it if you must that language in your preferred languages in settings. AI ruins everything. 😡
Pretty annoying that Discord doesn't provide a way to report obvious bot spammers. Only four options for reporting an account: their photo, their name, their description, or their server tag. No wonder I keep getting friend requests from these accounts.

Okay, so it's just compressed air.
Easier.
But crappy specific impulse (less than 50 seconds).
Even assuming that 50% of the mass of the car is the compressed air, that gives you less than 10s of useful thrust (with thrust-to-weight ratio larger than 1.0). Probably more like 5 seconds, actually.
So the car must be an empty, lightweight shell containing big compressed air tanks.
Cute demo, but totally impractical.
But of course, you knew that.
That's right, we've been working on JRuby for over 20 years. My work is now funded by JRuby support contracts via @HeadiusEnts and GitHub Sponsorships (github.com/sponsors/headius). Partner with me to keep this crazy dream alive!
Replying to @headius
@headius I've been getting into reading ancient Ruby mailing lists and found this for JRuby 20 years ago today 😁 marc.info/?l=ruby-talk&m=116…

I turned 39 today, and I invite you to join @sfrubyconf on Nov 10-11 for equal parts (1) learning about Ruby, AI and the frontier, and (2) party with me and your other Ruby friends!
Another fun talk on regex internals by Daniel Colson at XO Ruby NYC! I'll never get tired of looking under the covers, no matter how many people tell me to stop.
JRuby placed third for lowest latency in the last deployment... Where will it be this round?
This and the Roundhouse results show that it's not about the language you or your agents use; it's about using the right tools, frameworks, and design in your chosen language.

We're happy to announce jruby-rack 2.0.0, updating our servlet/rack bridge to support the Jakarta Servlet API! We partnered with JRuby contributor github.com/chadlwilson and the @killbill_io Open Source billing and payments platform to make this happen.

Oops, I will actually be speaking at XO Ruby in NYC this SATURDAY, October 10th, at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Will I see you there?

I am excited to announce I will be speaking at XO Ruby in NYC this Friday, October 10th, at the Metropolitan Pavilion! XO Ruby events are focused on local Ruby communities, with a dirt cheap, one day, single track setup. Stop by and learn about JRuby!

I don't read code to make the code better. I read code to make myself better. I understand the system better by reading the code, which makes me better at creating new code.
I'm looking forward to "stop writing code" and "stop reading code" to evolve into "stop running code" and we just revert back to an agrarian society.

I keep hearing this nonsense, that English is the new programming language, and Ai is a "compiler".
Okay. If you're right, then the same English should give you the same software every time. That's what a compiler does.
It doesn't. The same prompt with the same model but you get different outputs.
A compiler doesn't guess what you meant while Ai does.
Prove me wrong. Give it the same English twice and get the same software.
Things I want from GitHub:
* Align Milestones, Releases, and Tags in a logical way. Multiple Milestones per issue/PR.
* A button to enter review mode on front page of PR.
* A list of "Changes Requested" (current indicator is useless).
* Re-run single job directly from the PR.

Folks, you can rewrite your Rails chat app in Rust all you want - it won't fix the deliverability of chat messages and won't make it any more reliable. You gotta fix Action Cable protocol first to store and fetch message history. Like we did in @any_cable with docs.anycable.io/misc/action…
There's a difference between "implement this app/feature" and low-level optimizations, refactorings, or memory/thread-safety improvements. The former is "easy" for AI, but the latter is less tangible and more complex. In my experience, that requires a lot of intervention.
I've pushed a Rails 8.1-compatible activerecord-jdbc-adapter 81.0.pre1 for JRuby + SQLite and it can at least CRUD a scaffold app! I've provided a template here for generating a new app:
(rails new -m <template>)

Top three questions I got at #railsworld:
Q: Does Rails work on JRuby?
A: Yes, for 20 years now.
Q: Didn't JRuby already solve this?
A: Yes.
Q: Why aren't you speaking here?
A: I tried. Ask the organizers.
