A labour of love. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. I read, watched, listened widely just so I could articulate some of the things I’ve been pondering for months! ❤️

Forcing myself to read things in French when I can read them in English is really doing wonders to my brain.

On a literary level it is simply brilliant. The metaphors are rigorous and striking. The arguments are solid. But gosh, the feeling? SO SO SO much feeling.
It was Pamilerin Jacob who asked me to read The Mystics and he lowekey changed the game for me.

📌 A very essential read!
It teaches discipline and how that discipline shapes how one loves.
It teaches one the ability to exercise restraint in both sexual desires & material pursuits.

As someone who works in Oxford street, I hate this idea! Terrible for people who need accessibility and cannot walk long distances. Also Christmas time is going to be HELL!

as a student of literature, i find no attraction to the insistence on a singular interpretation of romeo & juliet. sontag warned us against this philitinism, even so to allow a functional mode of understanding. tragedy can be subverted, including its ugliness.

Nothing is quite as empowering as profoundly rejecting anything that might insidiously convince you that you are a perpetual victim and a passive participant in your own life.
Reject that narrative with vehemence. I tell my 20 girls this all the time.

I know language evolves, but the historical context of the term “maxxing” will never stop me from cringing when I see people casually using it in everyday lingo.
The same thing people did to that poster who commented on Jane Austen’s work. You guys are just too mean! Let’s learn to encourage dialogue and different interpretations. Even if you think someone is wrong, there’s a way to say it without calling them out of their name.

I keep saying that you people have become way too comfortable being cruel to women.
Doesn’t matter how you dress it up, you’re simply cruel and that it’s ALWAYS directed at women is a real problem.
You should unpack that.
