Wobbly God
The central boss of the 15th century vaulted porch at Cotterstock, Northamptonshire, depicts the Trinity. Perhaps the masons were drunk: not only was the boss set askew to the ribs of the vault, but God, seated on his heavenly throne, has a distinct lean.

I am a survivor of Aberfan, but I lost my brother.
The bereaved families and fellow survivors of Aberfan do not need or appreciate the hollow words of remembrance of a political party like Reform who only exist to sow division and hatred.
We are better than that.

A skeleton for Tanfield
The monument to Sir Lawrence Tanfield, Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer may be found at Burford, Oxfordshire. He and his wife lie on a tomb chest under a canopy. In a recess beneath is a life-size skeleton - a memento mori. Erected in 1628.

At risk from further decay, St Tyfi's, Llandyfeisant is a charming Gothic church that is sadly suffering from a combination of rotting roof timbers, invasive vegetation and defective drainage. However, with your help, we can repair St Tyfi’s.

✨ It wasn’t until I first saw the Saxon crypt at St Wystan’s, Repton, that I understood John Betjeman’s words: ‘Holy air encased in stone.’ I’ve never felt the past so close, or found such comfort in feeling rooted in a longer story. A real hidden gem, a must see.
