🇮🇱 ICC member states have voted to remove chief prosecutor Karim Khan, 82 for, 13 against, 15 abstentions, by secret ballot.
First time in the court's 24-year history a sitting chief prosecutor has been dismissed.
A senior Israeli official says Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar and Israeli missions lobbied states to vote for removal or abstain.
Khan is the prosecutor who secured warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant. He was barred from attending the vote, because Washington sanctioned him over that same investigation.
A junior staff member accused Khan of coercive, non-consensual sexual behavior and an inappropriate relationship.
Khan denies any sexual relationship of any kind and calls the process unlawful and procedurally unfair. His accuser rejects the claim that she's part of any Israeli effort.
The warrants survive, only judges can withdraw them. But there's no prosecutor now, and no replacement expected before next year.
