DEADLY GUNFIGHT OVER A BROKEN PHONE KILLS 74 YEAR OLD MAN.
Kavontae Wilburn, 19, and Braxton Flowers, 25, are both charged with capital murder.
Killed:
* James Parker 74, of Mansfield, TX. He was headed to homecoming.
* Ladontae Wilburn, 19, Kavontae's twin brother.
Wounded:
* Tamayra Woods, 22
* Kemo Jones, 25
* Tedarien Mitchell, 22
* And Flowers himself.
Here's what happened:
Oct. 15, about 5:15pm, at the Circle K on Colonel Glenn Rd in Little Rock.
A witness told police the fight started over a cellphone that someone tied to Mitchell ran over.
OVER A PHONE.
Store video allegedly shows Ladontae walking in with a handgun fitted with a drum magazine.
Flowers allegedly pointed a gun at Ladontae and the 2 traded fire.
Mitchell allegedly fired, too.
Video allegedly shows Parker clultching his chest and falling.
Kavontae allegedly stood in the doorway, firing multiple rounds toward Flowers, Mitchell, and Woods.
Woods ran across the floor and collapsed.
Kavontae told detectives he thought someone was shooting at his brother.
He admitted to firing a gun, and then asked for a lawyer.
Kavontae is charged with 2 counts of capital murder, plus Uniform Machine Gun Act charge for allegedly using a machine gun for an "offensive or aggressive purpose."
He pleaded not guilty. No bond.
Flowers: capital murder and 1st degree murder. Pleaded not guilty. Held with no bail.
Mitchell's case is under file review. No charges reported yet.
Death penalty. For them both.
