Four years ago, we lost a dear friend, Harry Leslie Smith.
Today, we remember an irrepressible campaigner, whose conference speech remains the most powerful defence of the NHS I have ever heard.
You are missed, but not forgotten.
#Ridge Nadhim Zahawi says nurses must "send a message to Putin"- by accepting real-terms pay cuts
Can anyone explain how NHS workers using food banks, unable to pay rent/mortgage, unable to heat their homes sends a message to Putin. And if it does, what is the message?
It's a cold one tonight!!!
I'm praying that Nadhim Zahawi's horses are OK!

Why don't we jusr make state schools better? We have a "levelling up" Minister now.

If you can afford private education then that OK and your choice. However, a private school is not a charity. It's absurd that they can avoid paying tax this way. Charities do good things for people in need.

Amazing the lengths to which racists go to deny their racism. Why don’t they just own their racism?

This 'incensed' nurse says she 'wasn't going to strike' until Nadim Zahawi's made remarks trying to 'guilt trip' NHS workers out of striking.

Extraordinary that Mone hasn't had whip withdrawn over allegations of pocketing millions during pandemic. If Sunak doesn't act, any remaining shred of ‘integrity, professionalism & accountability’ is in tatters. We need urgent & forensic investigation

I just want the British press to spend as much time exposing Michelle Mone's £29 million deal as they spend on discrediting nurses for wanting to feed their families.

The starting salary for a Nurse is NOT £31,000. @SteveBarclay knows it and @nadhimzahawi knows it. Yet they’re being allowed to lie to millions of people to demonise us!
@SkyNews you need to put out a correction. #SophieRidge #ToriesOut

The latest gaslighting coming from Tory HQ is to align public sector strikes, with Putin. A decade of Tory pay stagnation, across the entire public sector, has bugger all to do with Putin.
Nadhim Zahawi, stop using the war in Ukraine for political gain.

Nadhim Zahawi says unions are trying to spoil Christmas. He’s wrong.
Unions are trying to save Christmas:
🌹time with family & friends, not zero hours contracts or platform work you can’t refuse
🌹decent pay so you affording heating, eating, housing & gifts …

So Nadhim Zahawi (property empire worth anything from £30-£100 million) effectively just told nurses to "send a very clear message to Mr Putin" by accepting yet another real-terms pay cut.
As cynical ploys go, this really is a new low from the govt.

To put in context multi millionaire Nadhim Zahawi threatening nurses & ambulance paramedics with bringing in soldiers to break their strike, it’s worth remembering his expenses claim which included heating his horses’ stables was more than a nurse on starting pay is asking for.

And while one section of my Twitter feed has massive conversations going on about shaming children today, another section is reflecting on how past treatment (shaming) of powerful children in boarding schools has affected a whole culture. I thought I'd bring them together...

I once bought some old royal souvenirs at a jumble sale to sell on to a dealer. One was a book of photos of Charles as a small boy. He wasn't smiling in a single one of them.
