Ferretti, the yacht builder with a major facility in Fort Lauderdale, is now controlled by China’s state-owned Weichai Group, which holds 39.5 percent and appoints eight of nine board seats.
The same company builds patrol boats for Italy’s Navy and Coast Guard. The hulls and sensors that make a luxury yacht quiet are the same ones that make a patrol boat hard to detect.
Ferretti’s property sits near Port Everglades and the Coast Guard station. Florida’s attorney general has opened an investigation. Under Chinese law, any company can be required to hand data to state intelligence.
Ownership is legal. The data flows anyway. China buys the company, gains the technology and the location, and keeps the option to compel cooperation. Congress has not closed that door.

We have a major problem happening in our country with Communist China taking ownership in more U.S. companies.
We are seeing it play out with Smithfield Bacon…and now, we have it with Ferretti Yachts in Florida. I keep sounding the alarm on the threat of Communist China. This is a national security issue that Congress must address when we get back in November. loomered.com/2026/09/15/chin…
