Many people’s brain is fried by the need to confirm their bias. It’s funny how a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid is suddenly an example of “big games” Hansi Flick cannot win. But before the game I was hearing “we would beat Real Madrid with our second XI.” All the times he’s been beating Real Madrid, it wasn’t a big game, but now it’s a big game because people want to push their narrative. Lad beat Real Madrid to win the league last season, beat them in three finals, but this loss is the “only” big game. We beat Atleti a lot too, but the only big games are the ones they beat us. If we had beaten PSG, these people would say it’s only a group stage game. Most annoying people. It’s true we have struggled in many big games, but we’ve also done well in many. Flick is a great manager and he brings the best out of the current squad. Doesn’t mean some things don’t have to change as regards game management and all, but I find many of the excess criticism silly.
