Witnesses are elected: vote them out or they miss blocks, and the next one produces without a board meeting or slowdown in the interim. Connections, history and API tools sit in the open, owned and used by everyone. The DAO has no keys or controllers, and anyone can propose to it.

Platforms change hands, terms get rewritten. Sometimes new rules apply to posts you already made; sometimes the whole project ends up in liquidation.
This kind of thing is normal for businesses and companies... but it doesn't have to (and shouldn't) be normal for the parts of a protocol that belong to you:
