My Dad was only 20 years old when was killed in Normandy in August 1944 two months before I was born.
He was younger than three of my grandchildren are now.
He has always been a hero to me.

Gavin McKenna says he’s fortunate to have John Tavares as a teammate and mentor, praising his leadership and hoping to one day pass on that same guidance to a young player entering the league
“He’s been awesome to me, and he’s someone that hopefully one day, when I’m that age and there’s a young guy coming into the league, I can be like him, show him what it takes and teach him a few things.
He invited a stranger into his home without even knowing me. That’s pretty special and something my family and I don’t take for granted.”

Gavin McKenna says he isn’t butthurt about moving to the second power-play unit now that John Tavares is back, adding that he’s fortunate to be on the second unit at just 18 years old and doesn’t take it for granted
“I’m 18 years old. There are a lot of guys on this team who have been in this league for a long time and know how to play that power play. So when you see a guy like John come on and take your spot, you’re not too butthurt about it.
He’s obviously very smart, and even for me, being on a second power-play unit in the NHL feels pretty good.”
