Point out that women are writing self-indulgent fanfic about characters they find hot, and most women are into men? Watch it end up in "women are being selfish by writing self-indulgent fanfic in their free time instead of being Useful & Doing Their Part by fulfilling a quota!"

If, instead of being genuinely curious to learn more about women's psychology so as to better understand them, you're constantly pointing fingers, assuming the worst over their tastes and feeling morally superior... You're the one who needs to examine your internalized misogyny.

Fancops make fandom spaces absolutely unlivable for survivors. You can't even headcanon that a character might have been raped bc you're more likely to interpret certain signs that way due to your own experience without being called a "proshitpest".

This is what "doesn't affect reality on a 1:1 basis" means. Who the person experiencing said fiction is and what their preconceived notions on the topic are affect whether that piece of fiction might influence them or not and it's why education is way more important.
