“They bring out something in us that connects everybody.”
There’s a lot more to working with horses than what people see on the outside. Dr. Sarah Hargrove of @roodandriddle shares how well those who care for horses come to know them and what makes that bond so special.

🏇Scholarship Spotlight🏇
Joshua Coronado is a sophomore at the University of Kentucky studying Equine Science and Management.
“After graduation, my goal is to open my own horse sales consignment and build a business that I’m proud of. I want to be actively involved in the Thoroughbred industry by taking horses to the sales at Keeneland, Fasig-Tipton, and Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company. I also hope to become a pinhooker, buying young horses with potential, developing them, and selling them at the right time.”
Congratulations to Joshua on being a 2026 KEEP Foundation & Race For Education Scholarship recipient. We look forward to following his journey in the equine industry!

Today at the Appalachian Horse Center was a great example of what can happen when horses, education and community come together.
Approximately 250 fourth and fifth grade students from Perry County Schools spent the day at the center learning about horse safety, breeds and colors, feed and nutrition, farm tractor safety and more.
The KEEP Foundation was proud to be part of the day, talking with students about careers in the horse industry and giving them the opportunity to share their interests and learn how those interests could connect to careers in the equine industry.
Days like today are a glimpse of the vision behind the Appalachian Horse Center, creating a place in Eastern Kentucky where horses can bring people together while helping the community experience the social, economic and cultural value of the horse.
We’re excited to see that vision coming to life!
