Introducing `lane` β a CLI to manage:
πΉcopy-on-write (CoW) worktrees
πΈ durable, in-project memories
Plain worktrees throw away every ignored file that made your checkout fast: node_modules, target/, .env files, etc. So you reinstall and rebuild, even though the caches are already on disk.
lane clones them by reference instead.
lane also manages project memory.
Attach a note to a file and a symbol:
$ lane note add src/auth.rs -a 'fn verify' 'must stay constant-time'
# or
$ git commit -am "fix(auth): prevent timing attach \
Why: src/auth.rs#fn verify | early return leaks token length"
When `fn verify` changes, the note is flagged. It stays flagged until someone resolves it. A confidently wrong note is worse than no note.
Lanes are cheap enough to run several at once, so parallel agents each get their own tree and their own notes. Every note is a separate file, so multiple agents can annotate the same function without a conflict.
lane never calls a model.

π Preact 11 beta is here! After years of thoughtful development, we're delivering major improvements with minimal breaking changes. Better hydration, forward refs by default, and performance upgrades - all while maintaining the stability you love about Preact X.

Last week, Preact hit 1 million weekly downloads.
The little library I built in 2015 as a learning exercise is now found on ~4% of websites, including some of the most visited websites globally.
I'm lucky to work with this awesome team, and excited for what's shipping in 2022.

Great writeup of how @Etsy implemented @ksylor's "Islands" architecture in PHP and Preact.
h/t to the Etsy folks. legacy-compat was fun to build!

ALT Ultimately we decided the benefits of Preact were worth it. As it happened, even in our large codebase the React compatibility issues turned out to be quite limited in scope. The Preact core team was also extremely responsive to our needs, and their legacy-compat package allowed us to support newer React APIs, like hooks, without rewriting all of our existing code. Preact ended up working out so well for us that we have migrated our entire codebase to it, including our five-year-old seller tools single-page app. In addition to the performance benefits, Preactβs better backwards compatibility made it easier for us to migrate our React 15 code to Preact v10 than to React 16.
