A contemptible slur on the BEF
Lyndsay has a tale of two posters for Day 20 of HutVent, and the recruiting propaganda which proved too much even for the committee responsible for it... youtu.be/dbCNXY2yrqU #HutVent2024 #HutVent

'The Lost Villages of Norfolk' is the latest gem from Waterland Books, with words by Cameron Self and aerial photographs by @johnfielding001. Illustrated in colour throughout, it's a guide to more than than a hundred lost Norfolk villages, with an account and photograph of each. It's most impressive. It's £20 including postage from waterlandbooks.co.uk/shop/

Hexafoils or Daisy Wheels on a brick by a door jamb in a 19th century crew yard. I've seen lots of these apotropaic marks in earlier stone buildings, but these illustrate that the tradition continued in to the mid-19th century.

Padley's 1842 map of #Lincoln shows the burial ground of the Society of Friends, or #Quakers. The original house is labelled 2. There is nothing of the cemetery to see now, and Erin Bell's chapter explains why. bit.ly/3RmNdYm
