The belief that spotting a Palapitta, Telangana’s state bird, brings good luck during Dussehra can put these birds at risk of cruel capture and confinement. With the Telangana Forest Deptartment, we’re urging people to report the illegal capture of the Palapitta.

Our team in India recently helped local police intercept a vehicle transporting dogs destined for the dog meat trade. The dogs were bound inside sacks and tied to the roof of a vehicle; their mouths tightly secured with rope to silence them. Some were possibly stolen pets; others were snatched from the streets. These animals have endured immense suffering, but thanks to quick action and help from our local partners, Anajoree, Sporsho and Daryai Ghoda, they are safe and receiving care.
