Extremely excited to share the final chapter of my PhD research. In this work, we journeyed beyond the lab bench and went on a computational adventure, filled with data extraction, machine learning, and glass dissolution! Time for a thread! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/shar…
Little changes in the morning set the tone for the day. Let’s get it
(and no I’m not becoming a hype influencer, I’m just pumping myself up)
Highlights the real need for open access publication
I’ve also been excited to test out DeepResearch recently - incredibly effective for targeted queries, but struggles with gated content

The whole exercise makes me realize that if we care about knowledge propagation, we should be trying to feed the algorithm high quality info. More important than before that our research output is put out in a way that will inform and improve AI output.
Sometimes I really contemplate leaving this platform because the signal to noise ratio has gotten so bad
Only ~6 weeks left on paternity leave and in search of inspiration (need to wean from TV!)
If I had to read one book in that time what would you recommend?
I want to both read & create more but find myself in constant consumption mode, so need something inspiring & captivating
@APompliano you’ve been asking people this question weekly for years- top recommendation?

Hard to believe it’s been 30 days. 30 days without a visit from the Red Cross. 30 days with only 4 freed (and 1 rescued). 30 days of rockets falling from the sky across the entire land—Israel & Gaza. 30 days of fear. 30 days of death.
Yet, I continue to hope for a more stable outcome. Where hatred & fear aren’t the chief language. Where people across the region & the world can see each other’s humanity. Where we call equally for the plight of the civilian, regardless of which side of the ‘border’ they’re born

During times of conflict and suffering, we can only hope that outsiders who are not immediately affected will nurture seeds of peace. The job of intellectuals, artists and scholars is to try and go deeper. To try and see the complexity of reality, especially in today's climate of post-truth. It feels intellectually and emotionally lazy to just pick a side.

There’s so much hate, vitriol, two-sidesism, disconnection, and violence even 1000s of miles from the conflict… reach out to friends & people who may think differently from you, ask how they’re doing. Likely they’re in pain, sad & unsure how to productively improve the situation
