Using the dignity of a queen and her overwhelming martial-arts skills, she takes down the villains one by one while searching for the dreams and love she was unable to fulfill in her previous life. The series is based on the Naver Webtoon of the same name, written by Cretti and illustrated by Nehae Kim Sejeong has been cast as the female lead, Kim Chungha. Bae Hyeonseong joins the cast as Seong Wonjoo, the bodyguard who loves Kim Chungha, and Seong Siwoo, the ace of the school’s kendo club. Meanwhile, actor Jo Hangyeol will portray King Yi Nyeong, the absolute ruler of Joseon, as well as Lee Doyoon, a mysterious transfer student. Kang Hyewon debuted as a member of IZ*ONE in 2018. After the group’s activities ended, she began pursuing acting more seriously through the 2021 web drama Best Mistake. She subsequently appeared in dramas including Seasons of Blossom, Boyhood, The Player 2: Master of Swindlers, Friendly Rivalry, Oh My Ghost Clients, To the Moon, Spirit Fingers!, and Gimbap and Onigiri. Having received much love for her distinctive visuals during her IZ*ONE days, Kang Hyewon has demonstrated the quintessential growth of an idol-turned-actress, successfully shedding the “idol-turned-actress” label. She has established herself as an irreplaceable “first-love icon,” particularly in school and youth romance genres. In Boyhood, released in 2023, she surprised viewers with a fresh twist by portraying a character who initially appeared to be everyone’s first love before revealing her colder true nature. More recently, in the Japanese TV TOKYO drama Gimbap and Onigiri, she played Park Rin, delicately portraying the loneliness and excitement of being in an unfamiliar foreign country. Through the role, she successfully expanded her overseas career and acting range. As Kang Hyewon continues to establish herself as one of the representative actresses of her generation in her 20s without limiting herself, expectations are high for what kind of chemistry she will create in The High School Queen, a story in which the greatest warrior and queen consort of Joseon takes over a 21st-century high school through exhilarating action, while a romance unfolds between her past and present lives. #강혜원 #KangHyeWon #カンヘウォン #여고생왕후
