They should be criticized for it, if you actually cared about the girls you'd be doing the same. They're GLOBAL superstars who should be aware of the backlash internationally, no matter how normalized it is in Asia. Even if they don't care about the ethical/moral/environmental issues, they should at least know to avoid controversy in the future.
Unfortunately the only way they're going to learn is the hard way, and it's better they learn now when it's a simple matter of profile pictures, than when it becomes a serious issue with a music video, album, or song.
