𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗜𝗡 𝗨𝗞𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗘 Ukraine has always used only civilian Starlink services: the basic plan ($100), the commercial in-motion plan ($400), and the priority command-post plan ($2,000–4,000). Aviation plans cost up to $1K, $20K, or $100K+, but they are unavailable in Ukraine. Under heavy demand, the network became overloaded. SpaceX had to keep prices high for the military to build excess ground-station capacity around Ukraine and minimise signal latency. These are the very sites with antenna domes that recently began to be set on fire in attacks allegedly ordered through the dark web. The main problem Ukrainian forces faced at the front was Russian electronic warfare (EW). GPS signal jamming caused civilian Starlink chips to freeze, while spoofed location data could trigger terminal lockouts. The solution was a GPS hack board. Engineers soldered it inside the terminal to manually set the desired coordinates. These boards also made it possible to bypass Musk’s geographic restrictions. For a long time, Starlink did not work in the grey zone under Russian control. But entering the coordinates of a neighbouring Ukrainian region restored the connection. Russian forces also exploited this loophole until Starlink introduced exclusive whitelists for the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) only. By 2025, Musk began tightening restrictions and reducing speed limits for commercial plans. But Ukrainian military engineers discovered a loophole: technically, the satellite-terminal communication session was not rigidly tied to GPS. The protection existed only within the terminal module itself. If the terminal was made to believe through the hack board that it was stationary, it would send its own radio request to the satellite and receive the necessary session data. There are now around 10,000 satellites, and the signal could be picked up even with a separation of more than 150 km. The drone could fly over Russian territory while Starlink’s servers believed it was stationary. This was a major Ukrainian secret. Before being sent to the front, the casings of new Starlink terminals were routinely opened to install GPS hacks and sturdy, waterproof connectors. This allowed drones to fly at high speeds while using an ordinary subscription. In early 2026, Musk reduced the commercial plan’s speed limit to 160 km/h worldwide. That is slower than many basic UAVs can fly with a tailwind. But because GPS hack boards were so widely used in Ukraine, nobody noticed. The terminals reported that they were supposedly stationary. IN LATE 2026, SPACEX RESPONDED HARSHLY. A server-side check was introduced: if a terminal’s GPS indicated that it was stationary but it switched between satellites too quickly—revealing an actual speed above 160 km/h—the server would immediately terminate the connection. The GPS hack stopped working. Ukrainian forces began experiencing problems with long-range UAVs. Flights now have to be planned carefully to avoid exceeding the 160 km/h limit. Funding for aviation plans is not always available, and SpaceX does not sell them for what it considers offensive uses. Against this backdrop, Zelensky is trying to obtain unrestricted access to Starshield—the US military version of Starlink—to enable flights over Russia. But Trump, Musk and the Pentagon are refusing him. Ukraine has portrayed the restrictions as a political blockade while omitting the fact that the Starlink speed limit has reportedly been in place for almost a year. A behind-the-scenes back-and-forth is now underway: Musk says he has not changed anything in recent days, while Rubio states that Starshield is unavailable to Ukraine. The result: Starlink is gradually being restricted to vehicle-based and stationary use. The workaround no longer works. Whether the speed check has been disabled or access to specialised aviation plans has been granted remains unclear. The outage affected a narrow segment of drones...

🚨 #BreakingNews Microsoft Offers Buyouts to Roughly a Quarter of Its Workforce — 56,000 Employees to Be Paid to Voluntarily Resign Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to roughly a quarter of its employees, the Seattle Times reported Monday, in a further effort to manage head count amid heavy spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company employed about 223,000 people on a full-time basis as of June 30, according to its most recent annual filing, down 5,000 from a year earlier and its first annual decline in a decade. A quarter of that workforce would be approximately 55,000 to 56,000 employees. This follows Microsoft’s first-ever voluntary retirement program, offered in the spring to U.S. employees whose age plus years of service equaled at least 70. Roughly 8,750 workers were eligible; about 30% accepted. That program, along with layoffs, contributed to the year-over-year head-count drop. In 2026, Microsoft has also conducted involuntary layoffs of about 4,800 roles in July, concentrated in Xbox and sales, and another roughly 450 positions in September, mostly in gaming. Microsoft has not publicly detailed the terms of the new buyout offers. The company has previously framed workforce reductions as necessary for agility while it invests billions in AI data centers and related infrastructure, and it has said eliminated roles are not being directly replaced by AI. According to Microsoft’s 2026 proxy statement filed with the SEC around October 21, 2026, the median employee total compensation was $215,057 for fiscal year 2026. This voluntary layoff could eliminate approximately $12 billion from contributing to the economy.

What the Actual??? WA STATE CORRUPTION WARNING TLDR Who do you think seems more corrupt? 1) The public unions trying to buy Washington's Supreme Court races? Or 2) The PDC, which suddenly changed the rules 12 days before the election so those unions can spend even more? What happened: Oct 13: the 21-day late-money cap kicked in. Max $7,500 per donor to PACs. Oct 22: the PDC suspended it. By "interpretive statement." No lawsuit. No ruling. What it means: In this final stretch, when voters are filling out ballots, the PDC changed the donation rules so there's no limit on what one donor can give a PAC. Checks of any size, right up to Election Day. Who benefits: The unions. SEIU, WEA and WFSE have already given $450K directly to the "Beware the Attack on Our Courts" PAC. In addition SEIU, WEA and WFSE are also the largest donors to New Direction PAC, which has donated an additional $298K to the supreme court judicial “Beware” PAC Until Oct 22, each of them could only give the court PAC up to $7,500 more before the election. Now they can give $500K. Or $5M. No Limits Where does their money come from? $165M+ a year flowing into SEIU, WEA and WFSE. Tax-exempt- taken from their members—each year. 5 Supreme Court seats on the ballot. A majority of the court. How much of the Supreme Court does $165M buy? The PDC just gave the public unions the green light to find out. Want judges not bankrolled by the public unions? Vote. Pos 1: Scott Edwards Pos 3: David Stevens Pos 4: Sean O'Donnell Pos 5: Dave Larson Pos 7: Todd Bloom

This is truly getting tiresome. The effort to paint the very difficult immediate situation as without precedent and not “normal” ignores the waves of the security issues of the past. I’m not downplaying this and just as tired of “no, this time is different.” There’s just no escaping that every step function change in automated tools to find (security) holes/bugs that arose out of point experiences being generalized immediately created the type of “all hands” situation we face now. Everything from floppy disk scanning to buffer over runs to uninitialized variables to off by one loops to automation hooks to script kiddies to xss to frames to social engineering saw incidents leading to generalized tools that scanned environments to find countless latent bugs that needed to be fixed urgently. One day a product was ready to ship and then a tool ran and suddenly there were 10,000 new bugs for 500 engineers to investigate and fix and then test for what broke because well who knows what happens when you suddenly initialize a variable that wasn’t previously. This sucks in a ton of ways. No one wants to stop what they are doing at what seems like the biggest opportunity and/or disruptive risk to business in a generation. No one wants to touch old code. No one likes to have work generated for them by automated tools finding issues that are obscure by definition. But this is all good. These bugs were all there. Instead of cursing just realize how lucky your team is to find them now and not after the breach. Whenever we surfaced from these moments in the past we felt our code reached a new and better “steady state” and that will happen.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman: "I don't even know a dramatic enough word to use… models can find bugs that are outside of the normal threat model of what we think a hacker can do… hardware-level, insane stuff… I no longer think we're gonna be able to just patch all the bugs." It's over.

Foursquare did struggle as we made the transition from a consumer business to an enterprise business… but we did it! In 2019, 2020 and 2021 we publicly boasted about our $100M+ revenue years. So what happened?
Foursquare was acquired last month. The outcome was disappointing. It's taken me a while to write this, but I think I'm finally done grieving it. Here are some thoughts on our final years, an effort to honor the team who helped build & maintain FSQ's legacy, and my attempt to finally get some closure. teendrama.substack.com/p/som…

WA voting system is so rigged man. Why is this ok to put opinions to mislead voters on the ballot itself? The tax is not in place yet, so there's no "decrease" in funding if this passes.

The U.S. needs a national strategy to revitalize the essential economy — that is, everything that is built, moved and fixed in this country. It’s the foundation of Americans’ daily lives, but it has been neglected for too long — and the cracks are showing. Today in the @washingtonpost, @WalterIsaacson and I lay out the realities of this crisis and the signs of progress being made. In the 1950s and ‘60s, we looked to the stars to spark a national movement, with investments in science and math education. Today, let’s look to the earth — to the roads, the pipes and the buildings that make our lives possible. The country demands it. And the next generation deserves it. washingtonpost.com/opinions/… #EssentialEconomy #SkilledTrades @Ford

I just did something really cool with Claude today. I asked it to file the annual report for an LLC. It did everything except submit the payment, which I did manually, but then it captured the receipt, put it in my tax file, and then created a reminder to do it next year before the deadline. People don't realize how much of an efficiency factor this is.

🚨THEY FILLED THE CAR WITH BALLOTS… AND SAID WHO WAS DOING IT James O’Keefe’s undercover cameras caught it cold. A ballot harvester in Minnesota shows the trunk and dashboard packed: “You can see my car is full. All these here are absentee ballots. Can’t you see? Look at all these. My car is full.” 300 in one haul. When asked who fills them out: “People who work with Ilhan and other candidates… they work for them.” Cash changes hands. Elders get visited. Blank or open ballots leave the building. Minnesota law limits how many you can carry. Federal law bans the pay-to-vote scheme. None of it mattered. This is the same machine still fighting every single effort to require citizenship proof and clean the rolls. The same people who call election security “disenfranchisement.” They never stopped. They just got quieter about the receipts. Pass the SAVE Act. Clean the rolls. End the harvest. The patriots are done pretending this is normal.
