My favorite alternative to Office 365 isn’t LibreOffice – it’s something way cooler

Reminder: your goal with making any content is to maximize loudness. Be as loud as possible without clipping. Do not set a limiter at -6 for your mic, because you don’t clip until you surpass 0. Set your limiter to -1.
Yellow is not bad
Red is not bad
Actually clipping, is.
Your compressor should handle the majority of your loudest parts and keep you away from -1db, and the limiter is your fail safe to prevent clipping. Setting a limiter at -6 means the only audio you allowed to get that loud, your microphone, will be impacted by that. Not good.

Almost exactly 10 years ago I started filming my first video for @YouTube in my basement.
Just a $12 Sony lav mic, a used Canon t2i, and a gaming PC it took me over a year to save for and build a little at a time. No clue how to use a camera or edit video. 🧵(1/14)

If you're a man who's achieved success—whether that's professionally or in finding happiness & purpose—it's becoming increasingly important that you find time to mentor a young man who's not related to you and not your direct employee.
Young men are looking for role models. They're not asking for it because of course they're not—they don't know how to. But we wonder why the Andrew Tates of the world gain notoriety & traction? I've always believed it's because young men don't know where else to turn.
That's where Millennials and Gen X men need to do better. There are so many ways you can offer your wisdom to the next generation:
- coach a youth sports team
- post on LinkedIn offering free career guidance
- volunteer in the arts
- if you're religious, participate in the church
- hell, start making content about your personal values so we can see examples of men who've built great lives
My challenge to every 30+ man in 2025: find a young man's life that you can positively influence. It will take some time and work, but it's important.

I'm currently available for employment and/or freelance roles! I am an experienced PC Hardware Editor, but I'm also openpen to Tech PR Roles.
(Warning: long tweet!) Please tag or retweet anyone who may be interested in hiring me! I have some big news. My tenure at @anandtech has ended, and it's been a great seven or so years, which I genuinely loved. I would have been proud to have even contributed a small tidbit to an article at AnandTech, let alone all the content I have over the years. I have posted over 500 bylines, with many of these being detailed analyses and event coverage.
Writing for AnandTech was my pipedream when I first got into this industry many years ago, and I can honestly say I have accomplished this dream and gone beyond the realms of what I thought. The experience genuinely humbles me.
Going from a basic freelance editor to taking over from Dr. Ian Cutress as Senior Editor is one of my greatest lifelong achievements, and I'm forever grateful for it. I learned so much from my time at AT and got to stamp my authority on PC hardware as the authority. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of working with some of the best the industry has to offer, including @RyanSmithAT, @ganeshts, @andreif7, and others from the team.
I also want to give a special mention to my mentor and friend throughout my time at AnandTech, Dr. @IanCutress: Without this man, I wouldn't be where I am today, and I'm forever grateful for his knowledge, friendship, and very strong ethical nature.
During my time, I've met some wonderful people I consider good friends and done amazing things with amazing people. I just wanted to thank everyone, including companies and anyone my content has helped over the years! I'm not leaving the industry, though...
If you're looking for an experienced editor with many years of experience and great relationships in the tech industry, please feel free to contact me! Thanks to all (please retweet or tag anyone who may be interested in my services 🙂)
