Monica absolutely hates Karen, but needs Karen to win this year so the seat will be vacant in 2030. So she campaigns for her. This is the exact reason DSA-LA Hugo endorsed Karen instead of DSA-LA Raman.
Neither one of them will see it in their interest to help Nithya make sweeping changes. Hugo is clearly be doing whatever the LA Fed and Airbnb tell him to.

Crazy news out of the LA mayors race where the dead are rising from
the grave to signelection paperwork to help Mayor Karen Bass:
“Last month, LAPMA made its biggest single political contribution ever: donating $100,000 to a political action committee sponsored by the LAPD officers’ union, which also opposes Raman...
In keeping with California election laws, LAPMA promptly disclosed the $100,000 contribution in a filing to the Secretary of State. But there was a problem: The person who signed the paperwork, David Lara, has been dead since 2024, following complications from esophageal cancer.”
If there’s any reason to vote for untrustworthy Nithya Raman over corrupt Karen Bass, it’s the fact that Bass is a genocide denier who sent LAPD to evict and arrest students peacefully protesting the genocide in Gaza. Opposing genocide should be the baseline for elected office.
