I want to be besties with anyone who feels like they belong on this list. 👇🏻
Thinking about organizing virtual vid meetups & community to talk about how these things converge.
Anyone interested?

Big thanks to @ericasmyname and @ABetterJones for recommending the Bridgerton soundtrack for working.
It may be a placebo, but I feel like it's brought me back into my flow. 🎧
Personal development metaphor for 2023:
Focus on growth that acts like an inflatable moat so that when I fall off the wagon, I don't land in the shame ditch.
Like a bouncy castle for adulting.

A day of healing can look like: having a moment where you’d normally shame yourself become a moment where you remind yourself you are safe and you’re doing the best you can.
Because you are.
Twitter Ads before takeover: useful-ish and related to my work/interests/likes
After takeover: as-seen-on-tv gadgets and things you’d see on shopping channel
My dad once turned on airplane mode thinking it would make the internet faster.
My uncle thought his keyboard was broken because only stars came up when he entered his password.
Reasonable, right?
Don't assume everyone interacts with the world the way you do.
7 days ago, we had a snowstorm, and it threw me right off my game. 🌨
Shouldn't have been major, right? I am Canadian ffs.
But there I was, done shovelling, and I had lost all motivation to create.
When you're that close to crashing, it doesn't take much to break a habit.
Such a great tip.
When Erica recommended removing myself from what I'd written for 24 hours, I became able to see the friction.
Zero visibility to this before.

Taking just enough time to edit is boss-level content development. 🎮

In the quest for productivity we’ve been programmed to look for shortcuts.
When someone says, “Don’t reinvent the wheel, download my template!”, it sounds like a good idea.
But no one else’s template is going to work the way you work.
Reinventing the wheel IS the hack.
"Normal" 9to5 ≠ shitty boss, no freedom, no fun, etc.
Some people want time away from work, benefits and lower-risk employment. That's ok!
There has NEVER been more room for flexibility, autonomy, and purpose in a 9to5.
Love your work.

So many entrepreneur-y skills can be applied to career growth in a standard 9to5.
1. Selling
2. Writing
3. Ideating
4. Planning
5. Marketing
6. Mentoring
7. Positioning
8. Prioritizing
9. Storytelling
10. Networking
You're the product: be your own growth hacker.

It costs $15K to replace the average US employee.
If companies put 1/2 of that money into retention initiatives that:
• developed career opportunities
• gave managers better leadership skills
• focused on employees as humans rather than producers
They'd still make a profit.

👋🏻 Hey, friends who are sticking with your 9to5 rather than going out on your own
What are the top 3 reasons you're staying?

Watching the last month of Twitter leadership is like a masterclass on how to build an EVP, but in reverse.

People are quitting. Here's why:
• Career development - 20%
• Work-life balance - 12%
• Manager behavior - 12%
• Job characteristics - 10%
• Well-being - 9%
Managers, ask yourself:
❓What are YOU doing to make your people leave?
❓What COULD you do to get them to stay?
Whenever I want to know what to do for web accessibility, my goto has ALWAYS been @feather - such a brilliant and caring teacher.
When I was teaching Web Design many years ago, he made a super long trip to visit my class and speak in person.
I still owe him dinner. ♥️
