I'm Ian, a software engineer in Nairobi and founder of Okrin. I'm building simpler self-custody and exploring everyday stablecoin payments. I'll share engineering lessons and UX tradeoffs. Building in this space? Let's compare notes. okrin.app

One lesson from building Okrin: a timeout is not proof that a payment failed. Before offering Retry, a wallet needs to check what actually happened onchain. Otherwise the user can pay twice while trying to fix one payment. Failure handling is part of the product.

A failed swap left my funds stuck on-chain, with no clear recovery action. That inspired Okrin’s recovery flow: detect recoverable funds - review - sign - return them to your wallet. Demo at 2× playback. okrin.app What did your wallet show when a swap failed?

If you get paid in stablecoins, where does the process break down: receiving the money, converting it, or spending it locally? I’m building Okrin and want to understand the last payment you struggled with: what you tried, what it cost, and how you finally got it done.

Researching cards for Okrin has sharpened one distinction for me: global acceptance isn’t global signup eligibility. Before card design: Can I get it? How do I fund it? What will spending abroad cost? Those answers are part of the product.

Payclave is a non-custodial stablecoin checkout API I built. Merchants accept global payments and settle directly to their own wallets. No custody. No hidden balances. Checkout → pay → onchain verify → instant settlement. payclave.com
