Probably talking about transport, NZ politics, or the New Orleans Pelicans.

If Labours not going to cancel Warkworth to Te Hana to do this (all of the advice says the govt needs to raise FED/RUC to afford that atrocious project), then this is just a promise to use hospital and school money to fund Nationals dumb roads lol

Time for a post All-Star break check in: Qualified: * OKC, DET Still has a good chance: * SAS Needs to win their next 5 games: * BOS
Nine teams could still theoretically meet Phil Jackson’s 40-before-20 contender rule (the last 19 NBA champions all did it)… OKC 39–11 ≥1 win from next 9 games DET 36–12 ≥4 wins from next 11 games NYK 31–18 ≥9 wins from next 10 games BOS 31–18 ≥9 wins from next 10 games SAS 33–16 ≥7 wins from next 10 games DEN 33–17 ≥7 wins from next 9 games HOU 30–17 ≥10 wins from next 12 games MIN 31–19 9 wins from next 9 games LAL 29–19 11 wins from next 11 games

So you mean to tell me that the sane way forward is to go big into solar and wind for primary electricity supply, treat hydro as battery storage for generation lulls, and the govt has instead decided to chuck more cash at incumbents and resurrect Solid Energy for gas imports

Cackling at the Green Party's suggested changes to the name of the pay equity bill. This is a level of petty that I aspire to

How come the Govt can say it’ll spend $2b on five navy helicopters ahead of tendering, when it can’t say how much 2 new ferries might cost because that’d give away our negotiating position, according to the rail minister?

As a reminder there were no 'blanket speed limit' reductions in New Zealand under Labour. In fact, they specifically chose an evidence based, community driven, and context dependent system. The only major group wanting blanket speed limit reductions were the NZ Police

With the current Govt looking to increase speed limits again in the name of "economic growth and improved productivity", it's useful to remind ourselves that past and current speed limit reductions have consistently seen much greater $$ gains from fewer deaths & serious injuries

Having @cjsbishop replace @SimeonBrownMP as Transport Minister is good. Hopefully we will see a much more evidence based and pragmatic approach to transport, and much less ideological death cult. rnz.co.nz/news/political/539…

Career limiting mess on Interisland ferries. The obvious solution, a completely open goal, was right there in front of the govt: 1. retain the obviously steal of a deal on ships (made extra good by preceding Covid massive inflation in sector) 2. completely reset wharf project 1/2

That Cook Strait ferries announcement would have to be the most oversold and underdelivered politics of a wobbly old political year. No costs No ferries, or designs, or actual likely models, sizes, deals Just a new agency, new (old minister) & target date of 2029 - five years

Cancelling the new Interisland ferries was churlish and foolish. Our govt told KiwiRail to trim the cost of new wharfs & terminals & keep going. This govt cancelled it all with no viable alternative plan. If the contract hasn’t actually been cancelled they should reconsider.
