Louisiana's state board of education @BESE_LA had urged @LAGovJeffLandry to veto the bill. They said allowing career-track students to opt out of the ACT would limit their options if they later decide to attend college.

HB 762 has been signed into law! This bill erases the mandate for high school students to participate in ACT testing.
This will benefit students who have a desire to enter the workforce or attend a trade school.
Mandating ACT testing for all students subjects them to the task of taking a test they have absolutely no use for. Today, this burdensome practice will end. #lagov #lalege
