Honestly, I was a teacher for a year and it opened my eyes to a lot. I will never regret that experience. Actually one of the best things I’ve experienced in my life. Although I took on a lot psychologically, I learned a lot and I became more empathetic.

A piece of advice a white woman gave me that stuck with me: if you notice your child being bullied at school pack up and move. If you see them associating with the wrong clique…move. she’s been constantly on the move ever since becoming a mother.

I used to blame parenting on a lot of issues surrounding poorly behaved children until I became a teacher. There are parents that don’t even see their children because they are working 2-3 jobs to make both ends meet and those kids end up being raised by the streets
