Eden Yerushalmi was supposed to celebrate her 27th birthday today.

Mahdis Hosseini, also known as Mohaddeseh Hosseini, was a 16-year-old girl from Amol in northern Iran.
On September 21, 2022, during the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising, Mahdis was wounded by gunfire while participating in protests in Amol. Fearing arrest, she remained in hiding for several weeks before eventually returning home. Two days after her return, her mother found her dead
Human-rights investigators report that authorities initially treated her death as suspicious and later pressured her family to describe it as suicide. A source familiar with the case said Mahdis had also been detained and that her family believed her death was connected to what happened during her detention

The moment I told them I was Jewish, they no longer were interested in hearing my story. Fighting for my justice. They became uncomfortable. The facade of caring for refugees and being good people disappeared, the moment my Jewish identity came out. I wasn’t knocking Palestinian alleged suffering simply introducing the story of the Jewish refugees of Arabized countries. But that apparently doesn’t deserve empathy and sympathy, only when the refugee of a certain faith, I see. Interesting.

They had just come face to face with monsters.
