"The users will do the job."
I've always loved this saying in SaaS. Once a product is truly aligned with its users, a huge part of the work starts happening on its own.
In the past few days, Pumpfun quietly shipped two major features: perps and collectible card packs.
Usually, features this big come with a wave of official announcements.
This time? Radio silence (for now). The users themselves did the announcement.
To be fair, the perps are "just" an interface, with Hyperliquid running everything under the hood. For the cards, nobody has claimed anything yet. Many assume it runs on Collector Crypt infrastructure, but nothing confirms it 100%. So I get why there's less to communicate. Still, a brand new perps section and card packs inside the app "usually" deserve at least a small announcement.
And this got me thinking.
I believe the real challenge isn't aligning the platform with its users anymore. That part is mostly done. Because yes, CT isn't the center of the world.
It's aligning the users with each other.
And right now, finding consensus is still a painful process.
We've gone through debates over coin names, tickers, PFPs, and now which pair should be considered the legitimate one, whether rewards should be redirected, fees should be rerouted, or nothing should be done at all.
The market is still figuring itself out.
I don't think this discovery phase can really settle down while the platform is experiencing such aggressive user acquisition. Every new wave of users reopens the same debates in my opinion.
Some of the people who were shining just a few months ago have been completely overshadowed. And it's crazy to see how some people are literally willing to buy their way to a bigger user base as fast as possible, through airdrops and boosted referral rewards.
The smartest ones have quietly stepped back, letting those desperate for the spotlight burn each other out.
And I wouldn't be surprised to see them come back later for those very same newcomers once they're fully onboarded.
There's something fascinating about watching an ecosystem try to find its own equilibrium in real time.
I genuinely can't wait to look back on all of this a few months/years from now and see how it played out.
