Spoke to six students last night. This is what one of aspirants from this year, Dushant Dubey had to say. If you're really worried about the students & their demands, do hear him out. I was surprised to see how clear the students are in their demand for reform. But please note - there is no shouting or drama, so you may find it 'boring'.

Are fire cracker companies actually paying people or what? Is there some fire cracker lobby in India that I'm not aware of? Because I do not understand how people keep crying data, data, data and yet have not checked the AQI in the last two days. NOBODY THINKS that the AQI problem of North India is due to fire crackers. EVERYBODY KNOWS it's farm fires in Punjab, Haryana, UP. HOWEVER, if you're already suffering, WHY WOULD YOU ADD TO IT BY BURSTING CRACKERS? There's a very real and visible impact of the crackers! We could barely drive back home the smog was insane. PLEASE STOP EQUATING DIWALI WITH FIRECRACKERS! They're a miniscule part of Diwali, just like playing cards. Is that all Diwali is in the cities now? Cards and crackers? Now please don't start commenting on this feeling "attacked". I am a Hindu who has celebrated Diwali for past two weeks now almost and had a wonderful time with any crackers. Jai shri Ram 🙏🏻
Starting tomorrow, some lobbies will convince you that these farm fires never happened over the last 31 days, and everything around you is due to Diwali firecrackers. Do not buy that nonsense.

We are all dying a slow death. Opposition is busy saving the Constitution, Centre is busy winning elections and not caring about many real issues because nobody will hold them accountable. Nobody has the will or the guts to stop farm fires in Punjab, Haryana, UP. Political class will sell your soul (quite literally in our case) for votes. And yes it all boils down to will and guts. Open to being proven wrong on this. And to top it all - people have gone back to bursting crackers like they live in Norway with an AQI of 2. The sheer selfishness of every person who adds to this yearly disaster in North India is the only thing that remains crystal clear despite the smog. Thank god to be able to afford an air purifier.
A tale of two cities.

🚨 𝗣𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗗𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 & 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗠! Foreign countries & pharma lobbies want tigers, peacocks, cows, and street dogs sliced open, tortured, and killed in labs with zero painkillers and zero oversight! So look at what the government is sneaking through under the Draft Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Control and Supervision of Experiment Breeding and Trading of Laboratory Animals Rules 2026 (G.S.R. 864(E))! 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗦 𝗦𝗜𝗖𝗞! While the world moves to AI testing, we are legalizing animal slaughter for corporate greed! Team Bharat is hitting the streets! 🚨 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗬 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗖𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 & 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚! SM fam please look at what is being pushed through under the Draft Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Control and Supervision of Experiment, Breeding and Trading of Laboratory Animals) Rules, 2026 (G.S.R. 864(E))! This is 𝗢𝗕𝗡𝗢𝗫𝗜𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗜𝗧𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗘! According to these draft rules, ANY animal : including protected species, wildlife, community dogs, cats, birds, and even tigers, peacocks and even cows can be legally picked up and thrown into laboratories for horrific experiments! Who decides if it's a valid experiment? A guy sitting on the payroll of the EXACT same laboratory giving a clean chit! Zero government oversight mechanism. Zero external accountability. Our animals and birds will have nowhere to go; they will be tortured and 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗬𝗘𝗗 in my opinion under the pressure of pharmaceutical lobbies or foreign countries! While the rest of the world is moving away from lab testing into advanced AI and alternative methods, we are institutionalizing barbarism! Imagine an animal being cut upon without anesthesia under the bs of "experiments"! TEAM BHARAT is appealing directly to our most Hon'ble Prime Minister because for all my opposition to him we know he is an animal lover, pleading him to 𝗣𝗨𝗧 𝗔𝗡 𝗜𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗠𝗔𝗗𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦! We request you to Speak up before our voiceless animals & birds pay an ultimate price with torture & Cruelty! 🛑 #AnimalWelfare #DraftRules2026 #StopAnimalTesting #TeamBharat @OGTeamBharat @Nidhzee @FactswithDinesh @nachiket1982 @Shankyram2 @nachiket1982

I often talk about the complete lack of media training amongst public figures, including actors. You cannot assume appearing before a camera and playing a character can really prepare you for real world questions and answers. Half the time one is lost is translation and miscommunication. You mean the thought behind your words, but are unable to communicate effectively. Good journalists are always great communicators. And it's not about gen z,y,x at all - knowing how to work a room and audience takes experience. Being able to tell how a particular interview will play out takes more than just being of a certain generation.
a literal masterclass in how NOT to handle crisis PR. this is why every public figure needs atleast one genz advisor in the room (ideally a woman) who reads between the lines, preps them for interviews and PR trains them for the internet. a 25 year old chronically online doomscroller could’ve had one look at the episode and predicted for a shitshow it would be when it goes live.

Haryana is without Power..a massive power crisis. 100s of calls from people across the state. Below video is of citizens in Gurugram on the streets. What a terrible state of affairs! And we want to compete with the US & China in AI & quantum computing ? AI & quantum computers require good quality, assured power supply at reasonable prices! Shameless !

The problem that people like Sharjeel Imam have is not new - these are the arguments that created Partition. But the trouble, for them, is - what they created turned out to be a miserable failure. The much-flaunted homeland they tore away is a failed state which further broke and the other part, at best, is fragile. So the jealousy against the success of 'Hindu India' is endless and infinite. Now they are viciously angry because they think without partition this would be their success. On the contrary, people like them would have ensured that India fails too. So, in that sense, actually partition saved India. This is what Nehru and Patel understood by the end - and that's why they accepted partition even though their great father-like mentor Gandhi refused to accept it. Patel and Nehru knew that without partition, these people (Jinnah & Co.) would destroy India.

Hello to all people having a meltdown over Sharjeel Imam and his very 'unique' thoughts. This is precisely what I said too, it's annoying to be dealing with ideas from the past that are repackaged and romanticised. Imams 'ideas' have long been settled, and there's no space for it in today's India. Of course if you still want to 'engage' with it, by all means you should. But don't sit here and give gyaan about how he's a PhD student who's done a phenomenal job of analysing blah blah 😴
There is one simple, straight-forward, historical answer to any of the 'points' of Sharjeel Imam - all talk of 'proportional representation' was settled with the creation of Pakistan. Anyone still seeking this may choose this option. It is available next door. And then if and when reunification happens, this can be discussed again. Till then, this discussion is meaningless. Simple. Straight.

We have mobs of people burning down major Western cities right now. Forgive me for not flying into a rage over Indians dancing in a community centre.
What the fuck is this? Is this really Houston, Texas?

Constructively engage with ideas that hundreds of people already engaged with - at length - over 70 years ago? No, thank you. Please bring an idea that fits into today's world and realities, and let's engage. This is an aspect I find most annoying about people who don't read history to learn from the past and develop new thought, but to instead regurgitate ideas that were presented in a different reality and society structure. Inspired philosophies are workable, repackaged ones usually meet the exact same fate. And sure the constitution isn't an infallible document, but there are portions of the Constitution that allow all of us, including Sharjeel, to say whatever we deem fit. I would say those portions are considered infallible generally, and hence we have free speech. You want to start dissecting the Constitution to push a single person's ideology / thoughts / narrative, especially one that talks about splitting the nation? Then you should really be ready to let go of certain rights and freedoms once that Pandoras box is opened.
Criticising Sharjeel is easier than constructively engaging with his ideas and thoughts. In the end, the Constitution is not some infallible document, but you are not ready to have that conversation.

Yeah make it about the author and some other non-issue rather than taking on the very critical counter-analysis provided to Sharjeel Imam's ideology. Watch how a group of people will now create an issue out of this pseudonym business because they know how well the author has taken on Imam's ideas, and it's precisely these type of people who have been called out in the article.
I’ve long wondered about this practice: how is it ok, in today’s age, to have a ‘pseudonym’ columnist? I’d understand for whistleblower; personal story of risk. But for a regular “analysis”column that can fire away anything on India’s most divisive issue without accountability?
