So our counter intelligence measure is using a shit map app call Tuju? LMAO 🤣

ONGOING: Satellite data reveals widespread carbon monoxide (CO) pollution from intense seasonal wildfires across Indonesia, spreading toward Malaysia and Singapore.(16, 10, 2026)
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Fires causing this CO pollution are mostly ignited deliberately by slash-and-burn land clearing for palm oil plantations and agriculture, not as natural seasonal wildfires, though worsened by El Niño drought.

Plague outbreak in Siberia: what is known so far
After the laboratory technician’s death, nearly 200 people who may have had contact with the woman were hospitalized. Some of them developed symptoms.
According to the publication “Lyudi Baikala,” ambulances are being accompanied by FSB officers.
The Shelekhov hospital was closed for quarantine. People in protective suits, masks, and gloves were spotted on the city’s streets.
The epidemic could spread across Russia. Due to one person’s banal mistake, there is a risk of a new major plague pandemic.
⚠️ The plague has returned to Russia
In Russia’s Irkutsk region, an employee of an anti-plague institute died from the pneumonic form of plague. The hospital where she was treated was subsequently placed under quarantine.
Shortly before falling ill, the woman had returned from a work trip to Buryatia, where natural plague hotspots exist. Specialists are now investigating how exactly she became infected.
According to Mash, the institute employee may have accidentally broken a test tube containing hazardous material while working in a laboratory. She allegedly told doctors about the incident after being hospitalized.

The idea of an intelligence explosion caused by recursive self improvement has been around for a long time but until very recently it did not seem imminent. Now many leading researchers think it may happen quite soon. You can read our paper about it here:

Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test.
48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video.
It’s the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The 48% figure and "video Turing test" claim are from Tavus's own study of 54 one-minute calls, not independently verified or using a standard protocol. Griffin-Lite leads NVIDIA's VideoFDB benchmark on their public leaderboard.

Fei-Fei Li spent years hand-labeling 14 million images, gave the entire thing away for free, and watched it create a multi-trillion dollar industry that paid her nothing. Sixteen years later, AMD is finally paying her. $8.2 billion.
Rewind to 2007. She's a junior professor at Princeton, and the field's consensus is that progress comes from better algorithms, with data as an afterthought. Colleagues warn her that building a giant image dataset will kill her career. Money gets so tight she considers reopening her family's dry cleaning business in New Jersey, the same one she ran on weekends as a Princeton undergrad, to fund the project.
She builds ImageNet anyway and releases it free in 2009.
For three years, almost nothing happens. Then in 2012, two of Geoffrey Hinton's students train a neural net on a pair of $500 gaming GPUs and enter her competition. AlexNet drops the error rate from 26% to 15%, and that single result convinces the whole field that deep learning works.
Nvidia was a gaming chip company worth about $8 billion that day. It's worth over $5 trillion now, and the run started with two of its consumer cards winning a contest built on Fei-Fei's free dataset.
The entire industry monetized the wave except the person who started it. She stayed a professor.
Then in April 2024, at 47, she finally starts a company. Paul's math above puts the four co-founders' share at roughly $3.4 billion after just 2.5 years, call it $850 million each. And she walks into AMD as Chief Scientist reporting to Lisa Su, which puts the two most important women in AI inside the same company.
ImageNet made everybody in this business rich. It just took sixteen years to get around to her.
AMD acquires World Labs for ~$8.2b. But who gets the 💰? My usual breakdown below 👇
From founding to an $8.2b exit in ~2.5 years. A huge value creation event. This is a fantastic exit, especially for the co-founders and the team.
Investors will still share ~$2.3b of profits on $1.2b invested, a ~2.9x blended. Low-ish because most of the capital came in last. But it hides a lot of disparity between the various rounds!
So let's dive in:
1) The real home run: founders and team 🏆🥳
This is one of the best founder outcomes I've modelled.
@drfeifei, Justin Johnson, Christoph Lassner and Ben Mildenhall started World Labs in Apr-24. Less than 2.5 years later, they and the team still own ~56% according to my estimates. At an $8.2b valuation, that's a total prize of ~$4.6b to share between them.
Taking a 15% attributed option pool, that's ~$1.2b for the team and ~$3.4b for the four co-founders. If split equally, that's ~$850m each, in just two and a half years. 💸
And, at close, Fei-Fei Li joins AMD as EVP and Chief Scientist, reporting to Lisa Su! Legendary.
2) The buyer was already on the cap table (again) 🔁
AMD Ventures invested in the Series B and the Series C here. Now they are buying the whole company. It's the same playbook as Nvidia with Hugging Face: strategic corporates are using their venture arms as a free option on future acquisitions.
3) The standout VC winners: a16z and Radical Ventures 👑
Both backed Fei-Fei at inception, in Apr-24 at a ~$300m valuation. That Series A will return ~19x the money, or ~$1.2b of proceeds, in under 2.5 years.
Congrats to @martin_casado and team. Another mega win after Cursor and OpenRouter. The team at @a16z truly is on a generational run.
4) The star angels did well 🌟
The Sep-24 Series B had arguably the strongest AI angel list ever assembled: Geoffrey Hinton, Andrej Karpathy, Jeff Dean, Eric Schmidt, Reid Hoffman, Marc Benioff, Ram Shriram and more.
Priced at $1.3b, it was never going to be a 1,000x. But ~5x in two years is a ~125% IRR 📈
And the best part is: Hinton's AlexNet won the 2012 ImageNet competition, and ImageNet was the dataset Fei-Fei built. Twelve years later, he backed her company. Full circle. 🔄
5) The late money: a great IRR, but a poor multiple of money 🤏
The $1b Series C in Feb-26 at $5.4b returns ~1.5x in 7 months. That's a great IRR, but in terms of venture returns, this is a poor multiple of money. Although I am sure no one will complain about seeing DPI this quickly!
Congrats to all involved!
