Architecture is a matter of personal taste. Some like the minimalism that the library was designed around. Some like to stuff rooms with furniture that looks like it came from Liberace's living room. It's a matter of personal taste. Obviously, this woman has none.

The designer of the Edsel probably thought he had created the automotive masterpiece of the century, too. Turns out, even celebrated designers can produce a spectacular flop. A prestigious name doesn’t magically transform questionable design into good taste.
If the finished product needs its architect’s reputation to defend its appearance, perhaps a design refund is in order. And if your entire argument is that a famous firm designed it, rather than explaining what makes the design impressive, you’re confusing a prestigious pedigree with actual aesthetic merit.
An expensive designer can still deliver an expensive eyesore. The invoice tells you what it cost, not how good it looks.
I currently have a pile of smoke alarms in my living room because at 4AM I couldn't tell which one of them was beeping because it needed a new battery and it ended up being the last one that I checked.
