Tamil Nadu’s Asian Games medalists and Chess Olympiad medalists are being felicitated — a proud moment for our state. 🇮🇳👏 But I sincerely request the authorities to also remember and honour our athletes who represented India at the Commonwealth Games 2026, as well as our Motor Sports medalists and medal winners from other sporting disciplines. Behind every medal is years of sacrifice, hard work, family support, coaches, and countless hours of training. **Proposal for Construction of a Causeway Across the Palar River Connecting Sathuvachari and Kangeyanallur** I had the opportunity to meet **Thiru Vinoth Kannan, MLA, Vellore Constituency**, and submitted a proposal requesting the construction of a causeway across the Palar River connecting **Sathuvachari and Kangeyanallur**. This proposed causeway is of great importance to the people of Vellore, as it will provide a direct link between two major parts of the city and significantly improve daily transportation. The key benefits of the proposed causeway include: * It will provide a faster and safer route for thousands of residents to cross the Palar River. * Employees and students of **VIT University**, along with workers from nearby industries, will be able to commute more conveniently. * It will offer easy access to **Don Bosco School**, **Auxilium College**, **Auxilium School**, and other educational institutions in the area. * It will provide a shorter route to **Katpadi Railway Station**, reducing travel time to approximately **5 minutes**. * At present, commuters travelling towards Katpadi are forced to pass through the **Vellore Green Circle**, which experiences severe traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. This results in long delays and inconvenience. * The proposed causeway will help divert a significant portion of traffic away from Green Circle, thereby reducing congestion and improving overall traffic flow within the city. * To protect the surrounding residential villages and preserve local roads, it is recommended that **heavy vehicles such as trucks, lorries, and other commercial vehicles be restricted from using the proposed causeway**. The route should primarily serve light motor vehicles, two-wheelers, public transport, emergency services, students, employees, and local commuters, ensuring safe and peaceful movement without disturbing village life. This project will greatly benefit students, office employees, industrial workers, residents, emergency services, and the general public by providing a quicker, safer, and more efficient transportation route. The construction of this causeway will not only improve connectivity but also contribute to the economic and social development of the Vellore region. Thank you

I respectfully request the @CMOTamilnadu @adhavarjuna Government to consider revising the cash incentive policy for Commonwealth Games medal winners to encourage and motivate sportspersons representing our state and the nation. Several states have already introduced higher incentives for international medal winners. For example, Haryana provides cash rewards of ₹1.5 crore for Gold, ₹75 lakh for Silver, and ₹50 lakh for Bronze at the Commonwealth Games under its sports incentive policy. West Bengal has also announced Commonwealth Games rewards of ₹1.5 crore (Gold), ₹75 lakh (Silver), and ₹50 lakh (Bronze) as part of its enhanced sports policy. In view of these developments, I humbly request the Government to: Revise the cash incentive for Commonwealth Games medalists to a competitive level that recognizes their achievements and encourages future excellence. Allot suitable land to medal-winning athletes for establishing sports academies, enabling them to train and mentor the next generation of athletes. Strengthen sports infrastructure and provide long-term support to international medalists so they can continue contributing to the state's sporting ecosystem. These measures will not only honor the achievements of our athletes but also inspire young talent and help our state produce more international champions in the future.
