Bernard Street Halloween has everything. A marching brass band, Jell-O shots, an animatronic two-headed goat, former Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot…

The most remarkable thing about the Pope is the fact that he is possibly the first ever likable Villanova grad.
Replying to @VaticanNews
Pope Leo XIV joked with the those present at the audience on who he would support between the University of Notre Dame, known as the "Fighting Irish," and his alma mater, Villanova University.

There’s something to be said for the fact that turnout here is highest for November general elections when there’s almost nothing competitive on the ballot. Primaries and municipals are easy in/easy out. (Though the judge retentions slow everything down)
Is there any denying the fact that hundreds, probably thousands, of Chicago would-be early voters turnaround and walk away when they see an hour-long wait in line to early vote? Why do we limit the number of EV centers to 50?

Benetti still talks about the end of his time with the White Sox the same way I talk about my current job, which is probably an omen.

Just talked to voters at an early voting center in Detroit. No one I spoke to had any knowledge of what Rep. Haley Stevens and her fiancé are saying.

Treating Rosemary Vega as just some random concerned parent and not a longtime CTU-aligned activist was certainly a choice.

ok, going to step into a hornet's nest here: Chicago Public Schools had a big integration experiment in 2018 merging Ogden and Jenner. Do people still argue the merger was successful?

NIMBY group backed by NIMBY aldermen wonder why there’s not enough housing in Logan Square.
With rents increasing by 40-60 percent, neighbors in Logan Square want to see more protections for renters. buff.ly/heB4EyJ

A student’s former school making an effort to get a kid disqualified because he didn’t want to stay at their program just gives off incredible loser energy.

Kids from Oakland County are simply too extra to represent Michigan on the national stage.
Haley Stevens’ statement was petty high school nonsense Abdul El-Sayed’s statement was also petty high school nonsense but worse because he’s the candidate Mike Rogers’ campaign is worst of all because it’s based on rank Islamophobia and he will probably still lose

Ok but as Alderman you will have pretty much zero control over any of this. Who are you supporting for school board?
Our children deserve results, not empty promises. As alderman, I will work tirelessly to ensure our public schools are strong and making decisions that center students, not political agendas.

It’s truly wild how 1. People wanted similar solutions in Chicago, and 2. The only reason Brandon Johnson was unable to implement them was his own political incompetence.
Congratulations. Everyone has avoided the gentrification of the NYC school system. This is obviously considered a great success.

Prognostication about Michigan politics by people who have never been here.
So what exactly happens in Michigan the night before Halloween? 🫣

We have one already. It’s called Grant Park.
Chicagoans are being asked on the ballot if we should develop a permanent outdoor event space for festivals. If yes, where should this be?

I’ve become extremely disillusioned by this song since I found out the Quad City DJs were not actually from the Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, Moline Metropolitan Statistical Area.
When Florida bass (aka booty bass) music had a moment in the late 90s, this was a mainstream dance hit. Quad City DJ’s — C’Mon Ride It (The Train)
