starting tomorrow in the UK, it will be illegal for you to take a photo of you kissing someone. or maybe not, who knows! certainly not the people writing our laws. it's not their job to know what they're writing or how it might work
Replying to @CobaltCherry
That is exactly what should be left to courts and experts to prove. All legislation requires interpretation alongside the facts of the case and the intention of the law. This is designed to ensure that harmful practices are discouraged.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
It is the responsibility of elected MPs to make clear, precise laws, not pass vague legislation and leave judges to fill in the gaps while people's lives, liberty and futures hang in the balance.

I'm sure nothing bad at all can come from defining "possession" so vaguely.

Court of Appeal took a different view from the sentencing judge on several points:
- The large Kirpan alone warranted a ‘very significant uplift’ from the 15 yr starting point, to at least 23
- The aftermath (filming Henry as he died, the racism accusation, removing the weapon) was given too little weight
-The carrying the Kirpan was not aggravating (due to religious reasons), but its size, accessibility and lethal use were
- ‘Community impact’, Henry's vulnerability and ‘dishonour of religion’ were not aggravating factors
Replying to @meIisactu
As the judge mentioned, ‘unduly lenient’ is quite a high bar to meet and doesn’t just mean that the court of appeal believes a higher sentence was possible - other bars such as it seriously undermining public confidence etc
also have to be met.
I have had less than ideal interactions with the initial sentencing Judge and court that we can hopefully be in a position to talk about in the near future

There's a whole genre of entertainment built around the concept "what will happen if we systematically betray someone's trust" and the answer is always "they get sad and angry". This is the most psychotic example I've ever seen.
Scandal erupts in Denmark over TV show that brutally pranked comedian for four months
Danish comedian Rasmus Wallbridge believed he was working with his friend Martin Larsen on a film adaptation of their long-standing idea — a comedy in the style of Scary Movie.
In reality, the film project was an elaborate setup by broadcaster TV 2: 149 people, including Larsen, played out a staged scenario in front of Rasmus while hidden cameras captured everything.
The footage was turned into a six-part series called Everybody Loves Rasmus.
The comedian only discovered the truth at the end of filming. He initially took the prank calmly and agreed to the show being broadcast.
However, after the first episode aired on October 26, the programme triggered a wave of criticism. Viewers, comedians and TV presenters described what happened as bullying and psychological abuse. One presenter called it “psychological torture”.
On October 31, Wallbridge said he was not ready to take part in the discussion and asked the broadcaster not to use such methods again. That same day, TV 2 removed the show from all platforms and apologised to the comedian.
Denmark’s Culture Minister also weighed in on the scandal, describing the programme as a “tasteless psychological experiment” and accusing the broadcaster of violating its own ethical standards.

Now Russell Brand's been convicted of rape, we need to talk about Sylvie Berki. Because she can't speak for herself.
In 2014, Ms Berki said she'd been assaulted by Russell Brand.
But if she talks about it, even now, she risks jail.

The Trumps have executed bad foreign policy, corruption and suchlike- but it will only derail the next campaign because its being done by some of the most noisy and incompetent people.
That means there can be a new speech like this every week till 2028, w/ new material each time.
Domestic was foreign and foreign was domestic in this election because corruption was transnational. An entire speech built around Wall Street Journal and New York Times investigations, and it just sang. Now imagine the Qataris, Emiratis, Kazakhstanis, Albanians, and Russians waking up today to chatter that Ossoff is liable to be president in two-plus years. After he just implicated them all in a multibillion-dollar American racket.
