Mainly here to promote my books these days—not much else.
If you want my jokes/theories/dumb drinking stories, come find me in person. Always happy to talk. I'll buy you a beer.
American Rambler is out May 12, 2026.

For this week’s show, @mattmaxpete spoke with writer and rambler @IsaacFitzgerald in order to separate fact from fiction in the tale of Johnny Appleseed, and to understand how Isaac’s path, like Appleseed’s, led to a connection with nature, an openness towards faith and a few legends of his own. youtu.be/qb9Ajza6g9E?si=3NWx…
Well, this is pretty damn special. American Rambler has been named one of Barnes & Noble’s Best Books of 2026—specifically in Biographies & Travelogues, alongside some rather stunning company.
A hearty thank you to the kind crew at B&N! I’m grateful for the recognition. 🙏🏻🍎🍂

Ck out @IsaacFitzgerald’s new, funny, and moving “American Rambler: Walking the Trail of Johnny Appleseed.” If you read & loved “Dirtbag Massachusetts,” you will be so happy to spend time w/this one.
Especially right now.
(And pls make sure your library gets it 😉)

My father suffers from PTSD as a result of his time as a 9/11 first responder. Last year while laying in the hospital after an attempt drink himself to death, he told me about a funny thing that happened at Ground Zero.
His story inspired a year-long hunt for a lost piece of art.
I wrote about it for @vulture edited by @megh_wright

This makes me happy.
Thank you, @MaineVillager. 🙏🏻🍎
Keep kicking ass.
Great first meeting of the Midcoast Villager book club, with special guest @IsaacFitzgerald.
This is a way local newspapers can help build community, add value to a subscription and — thanks to sponsorship from Barnswallow Books! – even generate revenue.

I had a terrific wide-ranging conversation with Isaac Fitzgerald about AMERICAN RAMBLER, his road-trip book about Johnny Appleseed. Turns out I know more about Appleseed — whose real name is John Chapman — than I ought to.
I lived through the "books are dying" discourse of the mid-aughts.*
I'll live through the "reading is dying" discourse of now.
Reminder that book sales are up overall in 2026.** 😘
