"My first name is David. 'George' is part of my last name" is a phrase I dread writing every single day, but yet, here I am.

I guess we're choosing to selectively ignore all that "51st state" rhetoric over the past couple years where *checks notes* Canada and its provinces have had several elections.

I love how everyone totally forgets how he left Toronto to presumably be closer to family but really got a giant pile of money that turned out to be illegally obtained!
Not even one Scaramucci.

NEW from me:
Over the last four years, America has lost more than 200k jobs in creative fields like publishing, film, TV, or graphic design. It's the worst stretch for arts jobs outside of major recessions.
How much is AI to blame? And can the arts' business model survive?🧵

And so here we are. This statement from Trump blows my mind. That a sitting president would not let any renovations to a public building go on unless he gets to first put his name in the said building… What a sad state of affairs. What a tragedy. Actually, how small minded, how narcissistic. Actually
great men, devoted to public service and the public good do not act like this.
It seems that this man will not rest until his name is permanently connected to the name of a great president, whose memory this building was dedicated to. Imagine spending your time and your days focused on this, as everyday Americans struggle with healthcare, gas prices, rent, and food. Imagine spending your days focused on this, while a war rages under your leadership.
Enough said. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Someone needs to ask the Premier and the Transportation Minister what is the government's threshold for cyclist injuries/fatalities post-bike lane removal before they realize they made a big mistake.
We’re keeping our promise to fight gridlock and get people moving again.
Bike lanes are coming off Ontario’s busiest streets and going back onto side streets, where they belong.

An amazing (and swelteringly hot!) performance by Jack White last night in Toronto. Also: If Angine de Poitrine isn't Canada's entry to its first Eurovision competition, what are we doing here, folks?

An epic reunion to celebrate Andrew Bell and send him off into a well-earned retirement.
What we built in that newsroom transcends time and place. The friendships, the memories, and the bond we’ll always share. Grateful to have been part of it all.
Traffic in Toronto this weekend was hot garbage, but at least this is helpful to explain why the city's two main arterial highways were shut. That said, I wish it had been posted sooner to show everyone what was going on.
DVP update: Today was another productive day.
Crews were able to complete:
➡️ Repairing guardrails, drainage structures and potholes
➡️ Clearing 160 catch basins
➡️ Removing debris and an additional 735 m² of graffiti
➡️ Repairing/Replacing 30 overhead signs
➡️ Clearing debris and winter road salt from 215 m of bridge expansion joints
We are moving into wrap-up activities, with the highway on track to reopen ahead of the Monday morning rush hour.
Thank you to our crew for ensuring this important work is completed.
Thank you, Toronto.

Andrew Bell, a legend of business-news broadcasting, announces he will retire on April 30, 2026. He'll be missed by viewers of @BNNBloomberg for his smarts, interview skills and good humour. I'm lucky though - as one of my best friends, I'll see lots of him in the future!
